Well appointed and in a good location for exploring the area but you will spend time just sitting and admiring the view. Two good local farm shops within about five miles, one of which supplies organic products including meat. Nice welcome pack with products from one of the shops.

It's a little gem seemingly in the middle of nowhere but only 15 mins drive from Darlington train station. Great safe space for the dogs to run around in and a dog friendly castle hotel just 5 minutes walk away! (The food there is pretty good)

A lot of dust everywhere and cobwebs but the worst thing apart from the pillows was the big damp patches in several places which was very off putting especially for someone like me who suffers from asthma. There were no books on how to operate anything which is something we have always found in other places. The windows looked as if they hadnât been cleaned for years and generally the place looked very neglected. The good points were it did have a dishwasher, decent shower(although this would benefit from a non slip mat and grab handle for those of us who are a bit unsteady on our feet) and washing machine. I also wouldnât leave a welcome hamper with some of the goods out of date. The garden isnât secure but thank goodness we have a dog that doesnât stray. The doors were very hard to shut and lock/unlock as was the key safe. The bedroom windows had been stuck shut with a slap of paint so no fresh air through the night/day When I phoned for the key safe code I was given it in one word and that was the end of the conversation. Not very welcoming All in all a very disappointing experience. So glad to get back home.
