Venture into the North Pennines AONB, where you will find scenic walking and cycling trails aplenty leading to the picturesque waterfalls of High Force, Cauldron Snout and Summerhill Force & Gibson’s Cave. From here you can explore the National Park where you can wander the scenic dales and find a wealth of attractions including, Pendragon Castle, Janet’s Foss, Parcevall Hall Gardens and the National Trust Brimham Rocks. Although Staindrop has always been linked to Raby Castle and its owners, it has always maintained its own identity as a lovely Teesdale village. Among the most impressive in England, the Castle can be seen by the general public. The mediaeval core of the estate has been preserved and is now surrounded by a walled garden and a 200-acre deer park. Staindrop's broad village green is surrounded by a variety of fascinating businesses, taverns, and cafes. Barnard Castle, a market town with a castle, the Bowes Museum, and a plethora of shops and cafes, is just 5 miles away. Teesdale is a great place to go for a walk.
