The village of Bowes boasts a traditional old pub, has a long history dating back to the Romans and has the famous landmark of Bowes Castle. Nearby is the market town of Barnard Castle, whose medieval ruins still tower over the river and are well worth a visit. Within easy reach are the Bowes Museum, Pennine and Teesdale Ways, the River Tees, the Yorkshire Dales and the magnificent waterfalls at High Force.

Along with the stay, such as hottub instructions and recycling. The place was very clean and welcoming. Warm with heaters on ready for our arrival which added a nice touch. The views from the window in the morning and the hot tub. Just amazing! Could not fault this stay and would recommend to all. The village pub food was good and pleasant. The castles and walks added bonus around the area. Plus the waterfalls. Overall an amazing stay and hope to return. Thank you

Welcome was friendly and helpful. Lovely views out over the hills from the living room and the hot tub! Pub in the village (Ancient Unicorn) was good for a drink and a 10-15 minute drive (or £15 taxi) to Barnard Castle. Good walking options from the lodge/village.

Had a great stay very quiet Could do with a recycling box at property so it's easier to recycle at the bins I think for two people it's great for the seating but for four people could of done with another sofa or two armchairs for comfort The hosts was very friendly and there to help this is a great property to just chill and relax and that's what we went for
