It was sparkling clean (apart from inside the oven which was no doubt due to previous guests). There were plenty of bathrooms one with a bath and several with showers. There was a spa bath which we didn't use and thought the space could have been put to alternative use-perhaps a dining kitchen-but that is just our personal preference. It felt very luxurious and was a lovely place to stay with lots of walks in the surrounding countryside. We would definitely book again. The Sykes Booking Page stated that the £100 Good House Keeping deposit would be charged to the card that I made the booking with but this was not the case. The payment had to be made by Bank Transfer to Scott at Stanhope Castle Breaks.

Spending Christmas here was perfect, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The festive touches and welcome gifts were appreciated. The property was clean and well-equipped. The welcome pack was informative and it was easy to work everything out. Exploring the lovely village of Stanhope was delightful. We would love to stay again.

Local pub was friendly and welcoming, especially to our pooch. Only downfall was no restaurants or pub food nearby. Takeaways also limited but local butchers was good.
