About this property

Bamburgh 2.1 miles. With easy access to the stunning local sandy beach, Heather Cottages - Brent Goose is an ideal base for a family, situated in a charming group of former coastguard cottages. Enjoying the pretty scenery and the historic stone-built cottages, be welcomed into a thoughtfully furnished sitting/dining area with wooden flooring, leather sofas and a wonderful woodburning stove to warm yourself beside in the cooler months. The property offers a place to snuggle up for the night in one of the two bedrooms, a homely double and a twin with storage, and there is a family bathroom where you can enjoy a relaxing soak amongst the bubbles. Outside there is a communal lawn as well as a private siting area for guests to make the most of the sunshine in. Heather Cottages-Brent Goose boasts a simply spectacular view of the bay, encouraging you to spend a day walking, wild swimming, trying out watersports or simply enjoying the expensive coastal scenery with a picnic. The property allows guests to access the close by Beau Monde Leisure Spa where you can enjoy an hour's free swim and gym pass, as well as have access to the lovely activities on offer, and you welcomed to enjoy a hot meal at one of the local eateries, The Apple Core and The Apple Inn. Travel a little further from this cluster of pretty cottages and you will find the seaside town of Bamburgh, where there is a selection of eateries, a deli where you can stock up on essentials, another sandy beach and of course the magnificent Bamburgh Castle. From here visiting the incredible Holy Island is a must, where you can visit museums, cafes, a sandy beach and of course the famous Lindisfarne Priory and castle. Make a seaside retreat to remember with a stay at Heather Cottages-Brent Goose.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

We appreciated the welcome pack - thank you. The cottage could do with a thorough deep clean; especially the kitchen and bathroom.

It’s cosy and well equipped, we were very comfortable there over Christmas. There was a helpful welcome pack with tea, coffee etc and plenty of wood for the stove. The bathroom is downstairs and the stairs are steep as described, but carpeted and with a good handrail. The views from the bedroom are fantastic: you can see Lindisfarne castle.

It was generally very well equipped for in and outdoor living. The location is spectacular.
