Guests say

Heather Cottages - Brent Goose is a well-received holiday rental with guests praising its warm, cosy atmosphere and spectacular location. The property boasts stunning views, particularly of Budle Bay and Holy Island, and is appreciated for its proximity to the beach and well-equipped nature. While some guests noted areas for improvement, the overall sentiment is positive, highlighting the property's inviting charm and suitability for a peaceful getaway.

The property generally receives positive remarks on cleanliness, with mentions of it being 'spotless'. However, a few guests suggested a need for a thorough deep clean, particularly in the kitchen and bathroom, which slightly lowers the score.

The location is consistently lauded as excellent, with outstanding views and proximity to the beach. It is described as the best some guests have experienced in Northumberland, making it a highlight of the property.

Guests find the cottage cosy and comfortable, especially with the log burner during colder months. The steep stairs are noted, but they do not significantly detract from the overall comfort for most guests.

While the property is well-equipped and praised for its layout and garden, some guests have raised concerns about maintenance issues such as leaking taps and the need for redecoration. These comments suggest room for improvement in this area.

Guests have mentioned a welcome pack, which adds a thoughtful touch to their stay. However, as gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, this score reflects the positive impact of such gestures when provided.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

Dark, moody skies makes for better images. Thirty minutes from the back gate is Bamburgh castle, would happily revisit and maybe in weather which would allow us to use the pizza ovens. The cottage was comfortable, and the log burner made it really cosy.

Enough parking for 2 cars per cottage. This cottage is all about the location, which is 50 metres from a quiet beach, with spectacular views across the bay to Lindisfarne. This was a family stay - two adults and two teenagers - and we had a brilliant holiday. It wasn't a negative for us, but the cottage had steep, narrow stairs with an awkward 90 degree turn at the bottom. It also only had a downstairs bathroom, so if you aren't particularly mobile and need nighttime trips to the bathroom, then this might be a problem (but wasn't for us). A lovely cottage in a wonderful location and we had a fantastic holiday.

The welcome pack was well thought out and plenty of treats for the dog. The enclosed garden was well maintained and nice solid garden furniture. The steep stairs were not as bad as expected. My 83 year old mother could manage them but had to navigate the bottom 4 backwards. A mirror is needed for the twin room. Great stay overall.
