Oswald's Rest is a well-appointed cottage in Bamburgh, offering a peaceful and tranquil setting with lovely walks and impressive views of Bamburgh Castle. Guests appreciate the clean, comfortable accommodation and the thoughtful provision of amenities such as tea, coffee, and milk. While some guests encountered issues with maintenance and agency responsiveness, the helpfulness of the owner and the cottage's charm contribute to a pleasant stay.
The cottage is generally clean and comfortable, though there was an isolated incident of a dirty shower soap tray and wet washing left in the machine upon arrival.
The location is praised for its tranquility and proximity to local attractions like Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands, despite being a bit of a walk from immediate facilities.
Guests find the cottage comfortable for two people, with a pleasant surprise of provided amenities and a great garden enclosure for pets.
Facilities are well-equipped, but there were issues with oversized dinner plates, a WFI breakdown, and a poorly maintained access road. The owner was helpful, but the agency's responsiveness was lacking.
While guests were pleased with the provision of tea, coffee, and milk, there is no mention of gifts, so it cannot be confirmed if such gestures are customary or guaranteed.

Only a mile from the sweeping beach and cliffside castle in Bamburgh, this popular and much photographed village in North Northumberland has a dramatic fortress castle overlooking this glorious and most photographed stretch of stunning coastline in Northumberland. Bamburgh is a stunningly attractive small village set on the northern stretch of the Northumberland Coast, dominated by the magnificently striking castle that can be seen for miles around, giving the whole village a somewhat dramatic feeling. You can’t fail to be impressed by the sheer scale of the castle once you are up close and in the village itself.
There is much to do in the village alongside the castle and its amazing history, there are impressive stretches of pure golden sandy beaches, many English tea rooms and restaurants, St. Aidan’s Church and a wonderful museum dedicated to Grace Darling. Why not hit the waves yourself with a trip to the Farne Islands? Take a boat trip from Seahouses only a mile away and see the medieval pele tower and Victorian lighthouse, as well as the famous sea bird colony. Depending on the time of year, you might catch a glimpse of the friendly seals and puffins that visit the islands’ shores. Seahouses is a traditional seaside village retaining some of the ’olde worlde’ charm with gift shops, fish and chips and a working harbour. Golfers flock to Bamburgh, where the Bamburgh Castle Golf Club offers a particularly picturesque round. Disappointed on arrival to find wet washing in Washing machine, no one came to retrieve it so we were forced to dry it ourselves. Dinner plates too large to enable washing in dish washer, thus needing hand washing.Shower soap try dirtyWhen phoning owner for assistance with WFI breakdown, no response. However it was fixed. Would have appreciated a call or text Nicely appointed cottage in a good area for exploring East coast Northumberland

The cottage is fine for two people, well equipped but as it is on a farm, there are no immediate facilities ie shop, bar etc. It is a 35 minute walk to bamburgh, and about the same for seahouses that is mainly over fields and rough tracks, but both are well worth a visit, just take comfortable walking shoes. We did a boat trip from seahouses to farne islands well worth it and definitely visit Bamburgh castle it is very impressive.

A very pleasant stay. Although the road leading to the cottage was in poor condition. We enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the location and the opportunity for lovely walks through the nearby fields.
