About this property

Nestled in the Northumbrian countryside in the village of Corbridge, is this well-presented cottage, Bramwell House. Enjoying original features, with exposed stone walls, beamed ceilings and a woodburning stove, this holiday home is idyllic for two couples, friends or a family of four. Leave your vehicle in a roadside space before stepping inside to discover the shaker-style kitchen/diner, with an oven and hob to prepare delicious meals. After an action-packed day and when stomachs begin to rumble, settle down at the dining table. When the sun is shining, head out onto the small patio area and why not uncork a bottle of wine to savour a glass? As the evening cools, retire into the sitting room, where you can sprawl on the sofa as the woodburning stove crackles before you and relish a hot chocolate. As eyes grow heavy, climb up the wooden staircase to reveal two bedrooms, both doubles and one offering an en-suite shower room for a rinse. Awaken with the sun shining through the Velux windows and take advantage of the kitchen facilities to rustle up a home-cooked breakfast. Explore your surroundings with a visit inside an old inn to sample local ales and browse antique stores for a unique gift to take home. Immerse yourself in the past with a trip to Corbridge Roman Town for the remains of Hardian's Wall and the grand Aydon Castle, or for a tranquil setting explore botanical gardens at Dilston Physic Garden. Head into the market town of Hexham; here you can enjoy a family day out at the races, tee up at the expansive golf course or stroll around The Sele. The city of Newcastle is also within easy reach, home to a vibrant nightlife for a bar crawl, Laing Art Gallery to see unique oil paintings and the Life Science Centre. All this and more awaits at Bramwell House.

Corbridge, a wonderful ancient community surrounded by magnificent unspoilt Northumbrian countryside, provides a wealth of attractions, including specialised stores, old inns, and a 12th century river bridge. Hadrian's Wall and Housesteads Fort are nearby, while Hexham, a market town with small, bustling streets, a decent selection of shops, and a fascinating abbey with 15th century frescoes and a superb Saxon crypt, is a few miles away and well worth a visit. Border Country, the Northumbrian coast, Kielder Forest (with cycling and watersports), Beamish Open Air Museum, and Durham Cathedral are all within easy driving distance, while the Gateshead Metro Centre (one of Europe's largest shopping malls) is 20 miles east. Locally, there is excellent golf as well as fly and coarse fishing.

This is our second stay at this cottage this time was a little disappointing as there were a lot of light bulbs needed replacing plus the blinds at the back door and living room were not working so wasn't very private at night we were over looked there differently need a washing machine aswell if your staying 1week are more apparent from that the cottage is beautiful will definitely return in the near future

No problems being next to the Pub - no noise etc. Parking passes provided for Corbridge and Northumberland. Owner keep in touch by text - very helpful. Would definitely return if going that way again - lovely part of the world. Thanks

The set up looked lovely however the serviettes on the table should have been checked they were quite dirty. We had a major issue with the shower in en-suite, Ruth did send out a plumber but he was unable to completely sort we went from scalding to barely Luke warm. On a positive the cottage was in a great area and was beautifully appointed.
