On the ground floor there are two large living rooms, both with cosy gas fires, a kitchen/dining room and one bathroom. With four double bedrooms on the first floor along with a shower room, Grey Croft is ideal for family gatherings. Christon Bank is located only 2 miles inland from the picturesque coastal village of Embleton where there are excellent local facilities and a glorious stretch of golden sandy beach. Craster, renowned for its world famous kippers, is 5 miles away and Beadnell Bay, a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts, is only 6 miles up the seashore. A further 2 miles up the coastline is the traditional fishing port of Seahouses where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands, famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony, depart regularly from its harbour. Here there are several charming tea rooms, quaint pubs and shops and many other amenities available including horse riding, fishing and golf on the links. Just a few miles inland is the bustling market town of Alnwick, with its dramatic castle, the location used for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. We had a great week away staying at Gray Croft. The house itself is beautiful and it felt like a home away from home. Very comfortable and very well equipped. The welcome tray was a lovely surprise. The garden was spacious and well fenced which was great for both the toddler and the dog. It was lovely to see the highland cows. We went equipped for Northumberland weather but even that was kind to us. The area is great coast wise, castle wise and we found plenty to do.

We had a great week at Grey Croft! The house is in a super location for exploring Northumberland's coast and castles, and the hills inland. We were joined for half the week by my in-laws who loved the comfy beds and settees. Our daughters loved the cosy blankets and hot water bottles, though the house was lovely and warm. And my son loved the space: it was so nice to be together in the house without feeling like we were on top of each other. The garden was perfect for our dog, and we were mindful of the Highland cattle and sheep over the fence. They made good neighbours!There's a good twenty minute walk through the woods, which is ideal for stretching the dog's legs without having to get in the car. My husband and I were really taken with the beach at Low Newton, only a few minutes away by car. The kitchen was so well equipped, everything you might need to cook a family dinner and loads of cutlery, crockery and glassware. I do get a bit cross at places that sleep 8 and give you exactly 8 of everything. Grey Croft is not like this! Very impressed overall, the house made us feel at home!
