About this property
A bright and airy, semi-detached barn conversion with uninterrupted views towards the sea, just a short stroll from the popular coastal village of Embleton. Ideal for a couple or small family, this cottage is just a short walk from the beach. It has been decorated to a high standard and contains comfortable furnishings in its two bedrooms, as well as a large open plan living area and a well-equipped kitchen. This is a delightful cottage for a beachside Northumberland break. Note: This property can be booked alongside Refs. 924725, 930497, 930498, 936518, 947951, 949760, 970049, 970136, 970137, 970138, 1040639, 1040640, 1040642, 1112310, 1120842, 1122318, 1122319, 1122320, and 1122321, together sleeping a total of 87 guests.
The village of Embleton can be traced back to beyond medieval times and during the Wars of the Roses, it suffered much from the ravages of Scottish invaders. Today, ancient castles and ruins stand testament to Embleton's turbulent past; the Church of Holy Trinity is a late-Norman church, dating from the 12th century, later to be restored in Victorian times. Viewed from the sea, the undulating whinstone ridge that shelters much of the village from east winds, resembles a caterpillar, hence the old name 'Emeldune', meaning the hill of the caterpillar. The rolling countryside means that golfers can enjoy a good 18-hole links golf course that overlooks the beautiful Embleton Bay. Recently launched is the Embleton Heritage Trails Project, consisting of six trails, ranging from a short walk around the village, to a longer six mile route, following the spectacular coastline and inland into the tranquil countryside.

It is in a wonderful location with great views and a short walk across fields to the beach and a nature reserve. The cottages are well equipped and comfortable. There is also an excellent swimming pool on site for guests use.

The location is perfect and central for visits to Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, Craster and Alnwick. We also caught the train from Alnmouth to Edinburgh for the day. The site is lovely and quiet with amazing views across to Dunstanburgh Castle. This cottage was perfect with everything we needed for the week; comfortable beds, log burner, lovely bathrooms and bread, butter, milk, biscuits and juice ready for when we arrived. We had a great week and will definitely be back.
