In the mouth of the River Coquet, Amble is a great starting point for a tour of Northumberland. In addition to its marina, harbour and sandy beaches, Amble is known for its coastal hikes to Hauxley Bird Sanctuary and Druridge Bay Country Park. A variety of fish, prawns, crabs, and lobsters are caught by large fishing boats that moor along the harbour wall. An old fish hatchery on the side of the harbour is now a shellfish hatchery in order to replenish the supply of lobster and other shellfish in the area. There is an rspb reserve on Coquet Island, just a mile south of Amble, which is home to a huge population of terns, puffins, and eider ducks.

The only fault I could find was the flooring in the lounge/diner definitely needs replacing, but I'm sure the owners are aware, it didn't make our stay less enjoyable. The bedrooms were lovely, great comfy beds and nice bed linen. The bathroom is nice, good shower, however there is no extractor fan and it causes lots of steam. The window does not close in the bathroom ( we couldn't close it) But all in all it's a beautiful cottage, we loved it, it's on a lovely street and was easy to park, and would definitely love to stay again in the future.

I stayed alone with my dog but it’s actually a really good size house so a family would have more than enough space. The house was warm, clean and very comfortable. The bed in the main bedroom was super king size and super comfy!! Kitchen well equipped, bathroom had a lovely shower over a very large bath. The outside space isn’t huge and only concrete but has nice chairs and catches the late afternoon sun. I managed to enjoy a couple of drinks out there after a day exploring. There is no set parking at the house although in the welcome book it mentions you could park out the back blocking the garden gates. I couldn’t as my vehicle was too big but if you had a small car it looked like others did this with no problem. I parked in the road alongside the house and never had any problem finding a space. The only thing to note is that the road out the front of the house isn’t massively wide either, you’ll fit a car down it with a bit of space either side - I was in a mid size SUV and it left me a foot of so either side. But it’s fine to pull up and quickly offload/reload. It’s not a main, busy road passed the house so a few minutes to do this is not a problem. 2 mins walk to the Main Street of Amble and probably 10 mins max to walk to the harbour. Amble itself is quite small but has good range of shops and places to eat but the location of the house is great for exploring the Northumberland coast. I would definitely return.

Appreciated that we weren’t over burdened with lots of unnecessary house rules . The welcome pack of wine , biscuits and crisps was a nice touch . Would have no hesitation in recommending this property for a lovely family holiday .
