Beautifully presented throughout with careful attention to detail, ‘Hidden Gem’ has been renovated throughout in 2023 and equipped to maximise the space, creating a wonderful ambience with special touches of luxury throughout. A perfect retreat for up to three adults wishing to explore the popular small coastal town of Amble. Cosy up in front of the wood burner on an evening and relax on the comfy sofas while you watch the Sky Glass TV, or perhaps a movie on Netflix in the spacious living room. The bright and modern kitchen is well-equipped, it has a small table to sit and enjoy home cooked meals prepared with everything you will need for your well-deserved holiday by the sea. On the first floor is the pretty master bedroom, it is bright and airy with a kingsize bed and bath robes, ensuring a great night sleep. The single room is perfect for another adult or child. Two small steps down and you find the family bathroom comprising of a modern bath with a rainfall shower over. Outside you will find plenty of space to sit out in the sunny, fully enclosed private patio area with outdoor furniture, the ideal place to catch some sun.
Visitors to Hidden Gem will be spoilt for choice whilst staying in Amble with plenty of delicious restaurants and cafés within easy walking distance of your front door. Amble is known as ’the friendliest port’ and the locals embrace this. The working harbour is home to a busy Sunday market popular with locals and visitors, here you can find the bespoke pod-style shopping outlets selling a selection of crafts and local items. The harbour area has two great fish and chip shops, and some popular restaurants specialising in fish. Boat trips to Coquet Island are available from here.
With views towards Warkworth Castle on a clear day, you can walk to Warkworth from Amble along past the marina and river. Warkworth is a pretty, picture postcard-style village dominated by the castle which sits at the top of the village, and the pubs and cafés here are all worth a visit. Amble is the start of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, stretching along the coastline to Berwick-upon-Tweed with miles of golden beaches and castles. Make sure you visit Holy Island, which was featured in local author L.J. Ross’ novel, checking the tide tables to access the causeway.
No trip to Amble is complete without a visit to Alnwick, 10 miles away, where you can visit the Duke of Northumberland’s home of Alnwick Castle, more famed for featuring in the Harry Potter films, as well as Downton Abbey. Northumberland doesn’t just have a coastline; it also has a magnificent Gold Tier International Dark Sky Park. Travel west to Hadrian’s Wall towards Corbridge, easily accessible from Amble.
