About this property

The Barn sits quietly within the village of Longframlington, presenting a beautifully balanced place to gather, unwind and enjoy time together in Northumberland. From the outset, the house feels considered and generous, offering a setting that suits family holidays just as well as unhurried breaks with friends. Arrival is easy and reassuring, with a side entrance guiding you into a practical hallway and a well-appointed utility room that keeps day-to-day essentials neatly out of sight. This thoughtful introduction allows the rest of the house to remain uncluttered and welcoming, setting the tone for a stay that feels both effortless and well organised.

Light takes centre stage in the expansive open-plan kitchen, dining and living space. Tall windows and French doors frame views of the garden, drawing daylight deep into the room, while the kitchen itself is fully equipped for those who love to cook, inviting  creativity with its quartz worktops and impressive range of appliances. Meals become occasions here, shared around the dining table before drifting into the sitting area, where deep sofas and the warmth of the woodburning stove encourage long evenings of conversation and quiet moments alike. Sleeping spaces are carefully arranged, offering privacy and flexibility, making this area ideal for mixed groups with the ground floor twin bedroom with its adjacent bathroom and double bedroom with its own en-suite all being off a private corridor.

On the first floor, two king-size bedrooms each enjoy their own en-suite, creating calm, private retreats where mornings begin slowly and nights end in style. Stepping outdoors reveals a peaceful extension of the house, with an enclosed side and rear garden that works beautifully for outdoor dining or a gentle pause between adventures. Off-road parking for 4 cars adds to the sense of ease, allowing you to come and go without a second thought. The Barn in set in a small development of properties around the original farmhouse, set on the edge of the charming village of Longhorsley, home to two friendly pubs, a village store, a church with weekly services, butchers, bakery and coffee shop, offering a true sense of community.

Beyond the garden gate, Northumberland unfolds at its best, with the nearby Northumberland National Park, with walking routes, dark-sky stargazing, nature discovery and family-friendly highlights. More close to hand twenty minutes drive to the north you have Alnwick an historic market town with cobbled streets famous for the magnificent Alnwick Castle, a filming location for Harry Potter and The Alnwick Garden with its unique Poison Garden. To the south Morpeth with its park and riverside walks, together with an impressive shopping area, with a mix of independent and high street brands side by side.To the west is Rothbury and Cragside a National Trust property with a network of 40 miles of footpaths that takes you under the canopy of towering trees, across timber bridges, between rugged rocks, along the banks of sparkling lakes. To the east the coastline offers gorgeous stretches of beach, offering miles of walking, costal towns, castles, together with Coquet Island, the Farne Islands and Holy Island all to explore.

If that is not enough Northumberland Zoo is a stones throw away and Newcastle is close enough for a night at the Theatre Royal, there is also the Playhouse in Alnwick. Northumberland is also home to over 40 golf courses featuring a mix of coastal links, countryside, and parkland courses. Popular locations include Burgham Park and Linden Hall, both within ten minutes drive, the area is known for its scenic and varied golfing. The Barn is a home designed for shared experiences, offering space, style and a setting that makes exploring Northumberland both simple and rewarding.

The village of Longframlington sits at the heart of rural Northumberland, between the Cheviots and the coast and provides great access to a range of great walking opportunities. Brinkburn Priory is a pleasant, short drive away - a restored Augustinian priory in a most lovely setting beside the River Coquet. Just 10 minutes’ drive to the west is the National Trust’s Cragside House and Gardens, whilst the Heritage Coast is just a 15-minute drive to the east, offering miles of clean sandy beaches. The historic town of Alnwick, with its impressive Castle and Garden, lies just 11 miles to the north and is well worth a visit. With the spectacular National Park also within easy reach, this superb base is ideal for exploring Northumberland or taking a relaxing break!
