Guests say

Beach Retreat in Seahouses is a well-received cottage, praised for its cleanliness, prime location, and spaciousness. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the sunlit garden. While parking can be tight and some maintenance issues were noted, the property's charm and proximity to local amenities make it a popular choice for families and groups seeking a coastal getaway.

The property consistently receives high marks for cleanliness, with guests noting it as very clean and well-maintained. A few minor comments about cobwebs and crumbs suggest room for improvement, but overall, the standard of cleanliness is high.

The location is highly praised for being close to the town centre, with easy access to pubs, restaurants, and local attractions. The convenience and quietness of the location contribute to its excellent rating.

Comfort is generally well-regarded, with mentions of comfortable beds and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. However, some guests reported issues with mattresses and the steepness of stairs, slightly lowering the score.

Facilities are modern and the property is well-equipped, but some guests encountered maintenance issues such as blocked drains and problematic heating. The presence of games and a well-stocked kitchen are positives, but the need for better maintenance affects the score.

Guests mention a welcome pack, which adds a thoughtful touch to their stay. However, as gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, this score reflects the positive impact of such gestures when provided.

Plenty of space (we were a party of 4 adults and 3 children), very well presented, clean, ample utensils and comfortable beds. Lovely enclosed outdoor area to the rear, which I can imagine being a little sun trap in the summer. The only downside is the parking, but it would not deter us from staying again. We had a fantastic stay and will definitely be back.

It was very clean, with good quality fixtures and fittings. Parking is welcome, but a bit tight manoeuvring into the space available. There were no oven trays, only pyrex glass casserole dishes, and no microwaveable bowls, which was inconvenient when preparing dinners. Although generally the house was warm (we had cold weather throughout) the lounge and master bedroom were still cool when all other rooms were nice and warm. On one morning the heating failed to come on (the hive control showed no connection) we tried the contact number from sykes, but it was an office number for northumberland cottages, which didn't open till 10:00, we tried a mobile number we found in the cottage for Claire but couldn't connect. Fortunately the heating came on after a couple of hours. The cottage is in a great position in Seahouses,, with a cracking butchers a couple of doors down and pubs and restaurants nearby. Great having two en suites, family bathroom and toilet downstairs. There was only four adults in our group but the cottage would easily accommodate more people and would be good for a family. All in all a very nice stay in the cottage and a great location for exploring the area. Would fully recommend.

Everything was there for a comfortable short stay. Being elderly, we both found the main beds to be very low. We would love to re-visit next year.
