About this property

Resting on the edge of the forest in the Otterburn Hall Estate in Otterburn is this stunning lodge, Secret Lodge No 3. A dog-friendly lodge in Northumberland, there are plenty of outdoor adventures for families, friends, and couples to enjoy, whilst your home-from-home provides off-road parking, excellent facilities, and a hot tub and sauna for the ultimate relaxation. The contemporary, open-plan living space has high ceilings, wooden floors, and elegant furnishings, such as two tiger-skin-effect sofas to sink into and watch the Smart TV. Set the dining table for six ready for a family dinner, whilst the group's foodie gets acquainted with the fully equipped kitchen area. They'll find an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and plenty of utensils to whip up their favourite dish, whilst the dishwasher and washer/dryer do all the cleaning. At the end of busy days spent exploring Northumberland, take refuge in the lodge's beautiful outdoor space with your own private spa; relax on the outdoor seating with a cold beverage, unwind in the hot tub or de-stress in the rustic sauna, all with the woodland as your backdrop. Back inside, the sleek bathroom hosts a bath, shower over, and heated towel rail for extra comfort. Three lovingly appointed bedrooms await with fluffy towels, bath robes, and plenty of storage space with rustic, wooden panel walls; choose between two king-size bedrooms or a bunk room with a wall-mounted TV. The Otterburn Hall Estate has an on-site bar and restaurant set in a stunning deer park, perfect for family gatherings, whilst the surrounding five-hundred-acre grounds offer a variety of wildlife such as red squirrels, woodland and lakeside walks, and stargazing in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, accredited with a Gold Tier International Dark Sky Park award! There's so much to see around Northumberland National Park from Hadrian's Wall and Roman Forts to Kielder Water & Forest Park and The Cheviot Hills; be sure to pack your hiking boots, fishing gear, and binoculars for birdwatching! The village of Bellingham is nearby with the popular Bellingham Golf Club, the Bellingham Show and Country Festival drawing in visitors each year, and Hareshaw Linn Waterfall just on the outskirts. A must for history lovers, the market town of Alnwick has a glorious castle that will delight Harry Potter fans, The Alnwick Playhouse hosting a variety of performances and exhibitions, and The Alnwick Garden for picnics or dining in the quirky Treehouse Restaurant. More nearby attractions include the National Trust's rural mansion of Cragside, Northumberland Country Zoo, and Housesteads Roman Fort. Secret Lodge No 3 offers an elegant base to call home on your next Northumberland adventure.

Otterburn, famous for the Scots' victory over the English in 1388, is a delightful village nestled between hills and moors overlooking the North Tyne Valley. It's great for walking and cycling, too. Close by are Hadrian's Wall and Kielder Forest and Waters, which offer fantastic fishing, horse riding, and nature watching. Otterburn was once a thriving weaving village, with the world-famous Otterburn Mill as a landmark. An 18-hole golf course and a few pubs, shops, and tearooms are found in nearby Bellingham. Visit the nearby stately homes of Wallington Hall and Cragside, or the stunning castle and gardens of Alnwick, just 40 minutes away. Otterburn is a great place to relax at any time of year.

. Now the bad bits: The lodge appeared as if it had been sat empty for some time as there was lots of dust, especially on the glass hob. There are also lots (and lots) of spider webs running along the fascias, these are more visible at night with the outside lights on. The shower head was dirty and the toilet flush button often gets stuck in the flush position. We found the lodge next door was rentable for only £500, half the price we were charged through Sykes.
