The location is highly regarded for its peacefulness and proximity to local attractions and amenities, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.
While the cottage is generally seen as comfortable, there are remarks about the double bed being hard and noisy, which suggests room for improvement in this area.
The cottage is praised for being well-equipped with kitchenware, a dishwasher, and washing machine, though the lack of instructions for appliances and the issue with warm drinking water indicate some areas could be enhanced.

Sandyhouse Cottage is very comfortable and well-furnished, has generous surrounding gardens and looks onto the Cheviot Hills, within the Northumberland National Park. The living room is cosy and inviting, and the kitchen is particularly well finished. Upstairs, the attractive bedrooms have a great view of Yeavering Bell, where there are the remains of the largest Iron Age hill fort in the area, which had more than 100 round houses.

The gliding club in Milfield offers a chance to experience gliding with a qualified instructor. St Cuthbert’s way walking route and the Pennine Way National Cycle Route 68 are both close by. There are sea and river trips from Berwick harbour, and to the Farne Islands from Seahouses. Don’t miss the castles of Alnwick, Bamburgh and the dramatic, ruined Dunstanburgh, or wonderful sandy beaches, the closest being Goswick where there is also a fine links golf course. We had a lovely stay at Sandyhouse Cottage. Great location for getting into the hills and going to the numerous lovely beaches. Cottage was perfect for our needs and the enclosed garden and walks from the house were great for our two dogs. The local Red Lion Pub was great for our evening meals and just at the bottom of the lane. Also the staff and the locals were very friendly and loved our dogs. we would highly recommend this cottage for a peaceful holiday in Northumberland and would definately like to return next year.

Had a lovely week in the cottage - it was the ideal base to tour the area. The cottage has a large secure garden which was perfect for our dog. There are circular walks right from the door to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside. We visited Bamburgh, Berwick, Alnwick, Holy Island, Craster and Seahouses - all were within easy reach. The cottage was clean and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. There were lots of thoughtful extras such as windbreakers/bodyboards/flask and cool bag available to borrow if needed. There is a pub and cafe in the village which is about a mile from the cottage.Just be aware that dogs are not allowed upstairs in the cottage so if your pet is used to sleeping in your room this would be a major sticking point.
