Relax in the bubbling hot tub in the private enclosed area to the rear after exploring this stunning area of Northumberland.

The owners have carefully retained character and charm throughout paying attention to the exposed stone, high coved ceilings, and beautiful internal furnishings throughout.
Step out your front door and stroll to the shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants in this small market town set on the edge of the National Park. It is said that "Postman Pats’s Greendale" is based on Wooler, being the gateway to the Cheviots.
West House is only 15 miles from Berwick on Tweed, with a beautiful beach and plenty of shops and history. Northumberland is such a diverse and friendly county with the beautiful Heritage Coast only 15 miles to Bamburgh, with a cliff top castle from where you can follow the trail and take in the history, a lovely day trip. Holy Island Causeway is only 14 miles where the Lindisfarne Gospels were kept (check the tides). The location really is ideal for exploring in all directions of Northumberland and Scotland’s Border counties.
Wooler itself has that country feeling while still having a market town buzz, combining home comforts with countryside. You can be hiking the Cheviot Hills in the morning and having a local beer in one of the nearby pubs on an evening. St Cuthbert’s Way walk passes via Wooler, a 62-mile route following the ancient pilgrimage route, followed by St Cuthbert and many other monks between Melrose Abbey in the Scottish Borders and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne in north Northumberland. Beach 15 miles. Pub, shop, and restaurant 170 yards.

Absolutely gorgeous house - decorated and finished to a very high standard and very tastefully done. Hot tub is lovely and private and also spotless. Would highly recommend.

The brochures in the drawers below the TV in the lounge were very useful. Although we've been to Northumberland before, and we did go to some of the same places again, we did find some very useful info for places we hadn't been to, (or even heard of) - Ingram (Breamish Valley), Ford Castle/Heatherslaw/Etal, Cragside at Rothbury, and finally got to Holy Island. Still plenty of places to find. The hot tub at the end of a days walking was an essential pleasure (especially in the pouring rain).

We stayed at West House with friends who echoed our experiences. Pros.West House is a lovely property, it was tastefully decorated and furnished. It is located in a beautiful market town which has an array of shops and amenities, is 30ish minutes from the coast with plenty of attractions within short travel distance. ConsThe bedrooms are small and can make moving around difficult. The biggest issue is the mattresses. They are extremely poor and prevented a good nights sleep ( and let’s be honest, we all go on holiday to rest and recuperate). Unsuitable mattress has been expressed in previous reviews but not acted upon.
