Guests say

Seascape offers a cosy, comfortable retreat in a superb location just steps from a beautiful, dog-friendly beach. Guests praise the well-equipped cottage, peaceful surroundings, and easy access to North Yorkshire attractions. The owner is noted for being responsive and helpful. While some minor maintenance and cleanliness issues were mentioned, most found the property clean and inviting. The village is quiet with limited amenities, but nearby towns provide additional options. Overall, Seascape is ideal for those seeking relaxation, scenic walks, and a welcoming base for exploring the coast.

Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, though a few noted issues such as unemptied dishwashers, stained mugs, and some missed spots in the bathroom and lounge. These were exceptions rather than the rule, with the majority describing the property as clean and comfortable.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to the beach, stunning sea views, and easy access to local attractions. Guests loved the peaceful setting and the convenience for dog walks and exploring the North Yorkshire coast.

Guests consistently described the cottage as cosy, comfortable, and warm, with comfy beds and a relaxing atmosphere. The property is well-suited for restful stays, with only minor comments about sloping floors and hot water temperature.

The cottage is well-equipped with everything needed for a pleasant stay, including a closed courtyard for dogs and a parking permit. Some minor maintenance issues were noted, such as flaking paint and loose fittings, but these did not detract significantly from the overall experience.

There are no specific mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

The village of Skinningrove is undiscovered by most tourists, and is peaceful all year round. It is a quaint little bay, with neighbouring Cattersty Sands just a short walk away. This is a perfect choice for those looking for a tranquil beach holiday away from the crowds. The village is mostly inhabited by locals, with a little café, pub as well as a fish and chip shop.

There is lots to see and do for the whole family in the area, and this is also a wonderful choice as a romantic getaway for couples. Your dog is welcome to join you, and will be in heaven with the fabulous walks you can enjoy together.

For those who love the coast, there are some wonderful beaches nearby to discover, either on foot along the Cleveland Way or by car. Saltburn is a surfer’s paradise and has an iconic pier and some trendy bars and restaurants. Staithes has undeniable charm; this village huddles around the shoreline, with little fishing boats sailing out from the harbour. Runswick Bay is gorgeous, with sweeping golden sand, perfect for a scenic stroll taking in the fresh sea breeze, and Whitby is just a 30-minute drive away. This seafaring town has a fascinating history, with the abbey overlooking the cobbled streets, independent shops and quirky cafés. Visit the museums, ride a boat out of the harbour or simply take in the sights and enjoy award-winning locally caught fish and chips.

The North York Moors National Park is also on the doorstep, with ancient forests, miles of heather-clad hills and valleys, and lovely villages and walking trails. The many local events include Staithes’ art festival, Saltburn’s food festival, and Whitby’s regatta as well as the famous Goth Weekend. The big event on Skinningrove’s calendar is Bonfire Night in November, when residents build a huge wooden sculpture on the seafront, with a different theme each year, which is set alight after a spectacular firework show. You can have front row seats at Seascape from the bedroom window!

Each season has its highlights, from impressive waves crashing on the beach in winter, spring wild flowers on woodland walks with lambs frolicking across the National Park, glorious sunny summer days on the beach, or purple moorland as the heather bursts into bloom, then taking in the autumnal colours before warming up beside a crackling fire in a choice of cosy country pubs. A beautiful destination all year round. Beach 50 yards. Shop 1¾ miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

the accommodation was as described , and as expected ; but the little village it was in had nothing else to offer except a great beach ..... oh , and a coffee van.... the village pub was closed , as was the shop , and the fish & chip shop. The walkway along the shoreside was covered in dog poo.... despite many notices warning of fines ... A nice little cottage .. but spoiled by the issues listed above.
