Spruce Shepherd’s Hut can be found nestled within the enchanting surroundings of a Christmas tree farm in the Cheshire market town of Wilmslow. Traditional craftsmanship has been beautifully blended with modern amenities resulting in rustic charm meets relaxation. Lovingly crafted and furnished with meticulous attention to detail, it offers a cosy and intimate glamping experience with the comfort and convenience of en-suite and self catering facilities. Outside you can savour the simple pleasures of life as you indulge in the wood-fired hot tub, nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of the Christmas tree farm. Immerse yourself in the soothing waters to the scent of pine whilst melting away your cares and worries, surrounded by the tranquillity of nature.
The shepherd’s hut is accessed via a rough track and is set on a working farm shared by wildlife including badgers, foxes, hedgehogs and bats, as well as many different sorts of birds so there’s always something going on. There is an on-site tea room open from March to October (Thursday–Sunday) and specialises in Cheshire-based produce, but also has a Caribbean influence. It’s fully licensed so expect bacon rolls and home made cake together with the odd cocktail!
If you can bear to venture out, Wilmslow centre is around a 15-minute walk and is a shoppers’ paradise with designer boutiques and upmarket interior designers, as well as chic charity shops and a department store. Foodies won’t be disappointed with lots of places to eat and drink and there’s even an independent boutique cinema and small theatre. You can take a stroll through the picturesque Carrs Park in the heart of the town centre, or by the River Bollin towards Styal Village and National Trust Quarry Bank Mill.
Lindow Common, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and Lindow Moss, are both adjacent to the farm for walks amongst the peatland and the cities of Manchester, Chester and Liverpool together with the Peak District National Park are all easily accessible. Whether you’re seeking a romantic getaway or a peaceful solo retreat, Spruce Shepherd’s Hut is the perfect haven for a magical experience away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

We had the most lovely, relaxing few days at the Spruce shepherd’s hut. Wilmslow is a lovely little town with some independent shops, fantastic restaurants and a quirky cinema. We caught the monthly artisan market which was packed with amazing vendors selling all kinds of handmade and crafted products. The Spruce hut is the perfect base for exploring Wilmslow and the surrounding area, only 10 minutes walk into the town or a short trip by car to some stunning natural beauty spots. The wood-fired hot tub does take a few hours to get going but makes for a lovely treat at the end of a long day, and the BBQ is perfect for easy dinners and late night marshmallows. Jake the Cat welcomed us on our first evening, then greeted us every morning and every evening after! The hut itself has everything you could need for a break from the world, kept wonderfully clean and tidy by the owners. We had a fantastic stay and would absolutely come back for another!

We used the Shepherd’s Hut as an alternative to staying in a hotel after our wedding and it’s the perfect secluded spot!Situated at the bottom of the Christmas Tree farm the hut is very private nice and dog friendly.Fantastic to be looking at the Christmas Trees even on a summer trip.We were there during a heatwave so only dipped into a cool hot tub to cool ourselves down so can’t comment on it as a hot tub but was very clean and lots of wood available !We didn’t get chance to use the on-site bus cafe but did walk to a couple of local places, and there’s plenty of good walking spots nearby too!The hut itself was comfortable and the amenities were good.The main sink for washing up is outside, I wondered in Winter if this may be slightly difficult in the cold but worked well for us.Inside was clean, and having stayed in several shepherds huts is the biggest shower room we have had in one! Comfortable bed and great decking area.The parking spot is right outside so easy to unload too and plenty of space under the bed to slide your bags.We have a Labrador and there was more than enough space for his bed to sleep on the floor but be able to walk around him easily enough.Would stay again!

We have just returned from a wonderful week at the Spruce Shepherd's Hut, and it exceeded every expectation.From the moment we arrived, it was clear how much thought and care had gone into creating such a comfortable and relaxing retreat. Everything we could have needed had been provided, and the instructions and information supplied were clear, helpful and easy to follow, making the whole stay completely stress-free.One of our favourite parts of the holiday was simply spending time at the shepherd's hut. Whether we were enjoying breakfast outside, relaxing in the hot tub after a day of exploring, or lighting the BBQ in the evening, it was the perfect place to unwind. The setting is incredibly peaceful, and sitting outside morning, noon and night listening to the birds was a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.The location is fantastic. We enjoyed walks into Wilmslow, exploring the shops, visiting Alderley Edge, and sampling some excellent local restaurants and cafés. Having so much to see and do nearby, while still being able to return to such a tranquil retreat each evening, made for the perfect balance.We left feeling completely refreshed and relaxed. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway with thoughtful hosts, excellent facilities and a great location, we couldn't recommend the Spruce Shepherd's Hut highly enough. We wouldn't hesitate to return.
