About this property

Laundry Cottage is a beautifully renovated, three bedroom cottage located within the grounds of the historic Arley Hall and Gardens. On the doorstep are the Estate's award-winning gardens, arboretum and woodlands walk, all set against the scenic backdrop of the rolling Cheshire countryside.

Laundry Cottage has undergone extensive refurbishment, transforming the former Laundry and, more recently, the Estate worker's accommodation into a contemporary holiday home, boasting a bright and airy feel throughout.

On the ground floor, enjoy the cosy snug with a sumptuous sofa and television making it the perfect place to unwind after a busy day exploring the grounds. The tastefully furnished sitting room has comfortable seating for all guests to get together and enjoy the wood burning stove. The well-equipped, modern dining kitchen leads out to the rear patio overlooking the courtyard.

On the first floor are the cottage's three bedrooms, two of which have super-king size beds which can be configured to twin full size singles, offering flexible accommodation for families with children, or couples holidaying together.

Arley Hall and Gardens is a stunning historic house and wedding venue with gardens open to the public for much of the year. Guests staying at Laundry Cottage have complimentary access to all of the facilities on-site, including the award-winning manicured gardens, plant nursery, cafe and children's play zone. Just in front of the courtyard area is The Grove, a well-established arboretum and a woodland walk covering approximately 6-7 acres. Arley is conveniently positioned in a very peaceful rural spot, yet is not far from the M6 and M56 motorways, making it easily accessible for weekend breaks. The area is perfect for countryside walks and many of Cheshire's finest gardens and stately homes are nearby. If you fancy venturing further afield, the walled city of Chester, with its famous zoo can be reached in 30 minutes' drive. Alternatively, Manchester and Liverpool are great destinations for a day trip and both can be reached in under an hour.

The cottage was nice and clean and warm however for the log burning stove there was only 4 small logs left which lasted an hour at most and no matches. A small jug would have been nice and handy. Pre covid often dried herbs and spices were left but I suppose that is now not possible for some reason.

Laundry Cottage was warm and comfortable, especially the beds. It was quiet and set on the beautiful Arley estate.

The cottage is beautiful, the furnishings and decor top notch and the setting, in the park of Arley Hall, is wonderful. But there is one major basic issue that I feel lets the property down - the shower. It took twice as long as it should to have a shower as the amount of water coming through the shower head was poor. If that was improved I would give the cottage five stars. :-) We did have an issue with the provision of wood for the log burner - there was only four logs and some kindling supplied - meaning a trip to B&Q to get some more for the rest of our stay. We think that it should be pointed out to those staying in Laundry Cottage that access to the garden and grounds is only during opening times. Thoughts of enjoying a quiet stroll when visitors have gone home was dashed upon our arrival. :-(
