Chester 3 miles. This outstanding, country home is set on a private cobbled courtyard in the village of Mickle Trafford, less than 3 miles from Chester City centre. This stunning period property oozes character and quality in its fixtures and fittings, having been carefully upgraded over many years by its existing owner and is perfect for those wishing to celebrate a special occasion. As you enter through the porch you arrive in an incredibly welcoming entrance hall, with gas feature coal fire set in a traditional inglenook hearth, sided by church pews and comfy armchairs where you can relax and socialise with passing guests. The main sitting room retains a feeling of informal grandeur, with elegant seating in the main area and informal cushioned window seats in the large bay window overlooking the pretty garden. A second snug reception room with garden doors leads through to the kitchen and dining area with breakfast counter and cosy dining table. A former servant's staircase leads up to the Cottage room, a romantic double bedroom with private balcony and en-suite bathroom. The main oak staircase winds up to three more bedrooms; the Balcony room with balcony and super king-size double bed with stylish en-suite facilities featuring a walk- in shower, the State room with an impressive emperor double bed, exposed oak wall frame and beams and master en-suite with double-ended bath, walk-in shower, bidet and twin basins, and the Green room which is equally well-furnished with a super king-size double bed with an en-suite bathroom and seating area. A second floor staircase leads you to the stylish and characterful Top room, furnished in an elegant 1950s style, and featuring a super king-size double bed and en-suite facilities. A summerhouse across the garden provides a tranquil heated retreat, allowing you to look back and admire the house and garden, and of course a property of this standard would not be complete with a hot tub to slip into for a well-earned pamper. For an added touch of luxury, end each day in style with an indulgent seat amongst the warmth of the elegant sauna whilst the little ones keep themselves entertained with a game of air hockey, pool or table football in the thrilling games room. Chester is home to excellent shopping and there are plenty of pubs and restaurants to choose from. Why not pay a visit to Chester Cathedral or perhaps take a boat trip along the beautiful River Dee and for animal and nature lovers no trip to Chester would be complete without a visit to Chester Zoo or the nearby Blue Planet Aquarium. This superb cottage will provide a truly memorable holiday for anyone lucky enough to stay in this fantastic holiday home.

Chester has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed townhouses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture.

Sam and her father were very helpful too. just a few points, which in no way affected our visit 1 No downstairs toilet. Very strange in such a large house. 2 Could do with double glazing in the large bedroom facing the road 3 One or two of the many sofas could do with upgrading.

Behind every holiday booking is a real family/person; behind every person there's a life; behind every life there's a story. We took a few days away because for various reasons it was badly needed, so we deliberately went for accommodation that looked suitable for our dogs so that it was stress free. Sykes advertised this propery as having an 'enclosed' garden, which by definition means the garden is cut off and therefore secure. As soon as we arrived, the owner told us that the garden isn't secure and that really put pressure on us because every time the dogs needed toileting, they had to go on a lead - that's a lot of time in the day for two dogs. I mentioned this via whatsapp to Sykes and they said they never guarantee a garden to be secure but the point is, they advertised it as 'enclosed' which is actually false advertising because the garden wasn't enclosed - there were huge gaps at the bottom and one of our dogs did actually escape when we tested them out there. It is misleading the customer by advertising in this way. I actually chose this property over another because it said the garden was enclosed. Apart from that, the property was as advertised but staying highlighted its shortfall of not having a downstairs toilet. The fresh flowers around the house were a lovely touch and the games room was amazing.

So full of character and space yet lovely and warm and the games room in the garden is a total win with its space for games and bar. Everyone, young and old had fun! Sammy, our host, was so welcoming and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Great location too just outside Chester. Highly recommended.
