Guests say

2 Organsdale Cottages offers a cosy stay in Tarporley, with comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, and a secure garden for dogs. The property is praised for its proximity to local attractions and walks, making it a good base for exploring. Some guests have enjoyed multiple stays, appreciating the friendly staff and the equestrian centre nearby.

Reviews on cleanliness are mixed, with several guests finding the cottage well-kept, while others noted areas needing improvement, such as the kitchen and garden. Some guests took the initiative to clean upon arrival, indicating room for better maintenance.

The location is generally appreciated for its proximity to Chester, Delamere Forest, and local pubs, despite being between two busy roads. The traffic noise was a concern for some, but others found it manageable or unnoticeable.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the living spaces cosy, with a secure garden for pets. However, some noted the need for better heating and soundproofing from traffic noise.

Facilities are adequate with a well-equipped kitchen and modern bathroom, but maintenance issues like non-functioning appliances and the need for updates were mentioned. The provision of baby gates and highchairs was positively noted.

While some guests mentioned welcome gifts such as milk, eggs, and cakes, others did not receive these, and the inconsistency suggests that such amenities are not guaranteed. As there is no clear pattern, it is polite to note that gifts are a bonus when provided.

I really enjoyed my stay, and ,although situated between 2 busy A roads, and opposite a very busy equestrian centre, it was a really peaceful stay. The bed deserves a special mention as it was SO COMFY!! The downstairs laminate and tile flooring was ideal for the 3 dogs, but would have hugely benefitted from some door mats to limit the muddy paw mess. It looks like most of the furniture came from the delightful furniture store, just next door to the Equestrian centre. Lovely quality. The kitchen had all the basics you would need, although the knives needed a really good sharpen. Fortunately I brought my own all purpose kitchen sharp knife! The bathroom was clean and tidy with separate walk-in double shower. FAB! Water pressure fantastic. The shower hose was leaking at connection so may need attention. Being on my own with 3 dogs, I was fine, but if it was accommodating 6 people, one bathroom may be too little. An ensuite on the top floor would be a great addition. Alternatively, an under the stairs toilet and sink would be a great option. The parking at the front AND back is a great facility. Be aware if you have pets/children that the front parking is on a busy road. In my opinion, the biggest letdown was the garden. Yes, it's a great asset especially with dogs, but it needs a good overall. It feels neglected and poorly maintained, yet it could be a vital selling point of the cottage. The lack of /broken outdoor lighting made negotiating the uneven and rapidly disappearing path from car to back door frankly treacherous!! Also spent quite a few minutes in the pitch dark trying to connect the key with the lock in the pitch dark. Not very pleasant especially as I was alone!. Also, one of the fence panels has completely disintegrated, allowing my dogs into next doors garden. I blocked the gap as best I could, but a new fence panel is urgently required. I did leave a note of some maitainence issues that needed addressing soon. These issues and others I have made in this review would make this cottage not just good/adequate, it would make it FABULOUS!! OVERALL, a lovely stay, that could have been fabulous

Also on the positive side, it's a very characterful cottage, opposite an interesting equestrian centre with a cafe; the cottage has a good shower, new microwave, serviceable TV, nice fireplace, spacious double bedrooms, central heating works quickly (except in top bedroom). Easy to drive to beautiful Chester, and lots of other interesting places. On the more negative side, I wouldn't describe the cottage as welcolming, sylish or well-equipped, as mentioned in the listing. The property is on a main road with parking either in front of the cottages with articulated lorries passing within a few feet, or, round the unlit back (a bit unwelcoming at night) and as far as I could work out, the back security light didn't work. Inside, the property is quite basic, (which makes sense for a 3-dog-friendly stay, but isn't, in my opinion, stylish / welcolming / well equipped as the listing mentions). A patch of wall in the kitchen has plaster flaking off which dusted on to our clothes if brushed past. There wasn't a doormat, only 2 wine glasses, we couldn't make the bathroom lock work, the electric oven knobs had no numbers/words remaining, we couldn't make the oven extractor work, there was an unsightly crack in the corner casing of the bath, one of the downstairs lamps didn't work, not all of the pillows had pillow cases on them, curtains a bit thin, some sheets had marks on them, one duvet and mattress or sheet had an unpleasant smell to them. I did let the owner know about the smell issue as soon as I noticed it, and said we could cope with it as there was a spare duvet. There was also a spare sheet. The other things I've mentioned weren't that bad for a short stay but for guests staying longer I think they could all add up to being a bit of a bother, so am mentioning them here.

Very dog friendly and great for a short break away. Everything provided that you might need and beds etc comfortable. Only issue was the grumpy neighbour who was a bit rude - he took issue with the kids making noise but they weren’t making any more noise then they would usually and were excited. He was a little rude about it which wasn’t required- despite apologising - and was what I would call passive aggressive. Spoilt the holiday a little but the cottage was fab!
