There is a pub in the village itself, a short walk from the cottage, which serves food and local ales. This is the only community owned coastal pub in England. There is also a cheese shop in the village selling cheese produced in the village from the milk from the farms in the village. It has a shop which is open 3-4 days a week selling cheese, snacks and desserts. Take the short journey to the town of Silloth, where you'll find all of your local amenities including a host of delicious eateries and shopping opportunities, whilst the renowned green of Silloth On Solway Golf Club is a must see for the avid golfers in the group. Indulge in traditional seaside tradition and savour fresh fish and chips with a wander along the Silloth Promenade or pack a picnic and dine with a view amongst the glorious sands of Silloth West Beach. Head further inland and explore the delights of the border city of Carlisle, where you can take a step back in time with a tour of the 12th century Carlisle Castle or the Museum of Military Life, or simply treat yourself to a spot of retail therapy at The Lanes Shopping Centre. Also take a trip to Cockermouth which has a lovely selection of restaurants to enjoy.
