Switch off and relax at this remote property in the western corner of the Lake District National Park. The property sleeps six guests and would suit friends or family who love getting out and exploring nature. With tracks and trails in all directions, including Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walk, it’s the perfect base for keen walkers. Beautiful Ennerdale Water is just 3 miles away, and you can also enjoy day trips to the Cumbrian coast, before returning to your Lakeland hideaway.
The property is full of character, with a plethora of exposed woodwork, and a beautiful collection of stylish furniture. The ground floor houses two of the bedrooms, along with the family bathroom. At the heart of the home is a spacious lounge/kitchen/diner, with an impressive, vaulted ceiling, along with comfortable sofas, a dining area, and a kitchen with everything you need to cater for the group. Doors open from here onto a patio, so you can enjoy indoor/outdoor living in the summer months. A feature, spiral staircase leads to the first floor, where another bedroom and bathroom are located in the eaves (just watch out for the restricted head height in some areas). The suntrap patio has outdoor furniture and is a lovely place for wildlife watching or sipping a glass of wine under the stars.
Ennerdale Water is the most westerly, and the most remote, of all the Lakeland lakes. It’s a place to fully connect with nature, enjoying peaceful walks along the shores of the crystal-clear lake or following one of the paths into the surrounding woodland. After a long walk, you can refuel in one of the cosy pubs in Ennerdale Bridge (1 mile). Keen walkers can also explore Haystacks, Great Gable, and Kirk Fell, which are all accessible on foot from the village.
