The Coachman’s Cottage is a quaint, stone, semi-detached self-catering cottage dating back to the 1700s, with a sheltered, enclosed garden. It lies on the edge of Alston but within a 10-minute easy walk of the town, with its cobbled high street, shops, pubs and cafés. Alston, one of England’s highest towns, is centrally located in the North Pennines – one of Britain’s last undiscovered wildernesses and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is a wide range of activities and historic attractions nearby including a steam railway, historic mining attractions, fishing, golf and cycling routes including the Pennine Cycle Way and Coast to Coast. There are many local footpaths with stunning views and wildlife, as well as the Pennine Way on the doorstep. It is also ideally placed for days out in the glorious countryside of Northumberland, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks. Water sports are available at nearby Talkin Tarn and Kielder Water. Hadrian’s Wall is just 30 minutes away, and Gateshead is an hour’s drive, with its large shopping centre complete with restaurants and 10-screen cinema. Shop ¼ mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

There are low beams, with restricted head height to bedroom 2.
