From here through the characterful wooden and stained glass doors, happen upon the quaint kitchen, featuring a gorgeous green range cooker and all the necessary appliances you need to rustle up some tasty meals for the group, as well as a handy washing machine to freshen up your clothes. Climb the stairs to retire to one of two double bedrooms where you can rest your eyes ahead of the next day's adventures. The bedrooms benefit from an open wardrobe located on the landing, and a games room complete with another sofa, TV and a selection of books and games to keep the younger members of the group entertained on your relaxing days in.
Completing the first floor is a family shower room where you can freshen up ahead of a day of excursions, fit with a walk-in shower, basin and WC. Outside features two lovely patios; the front courtyard offers furniture where you can enjoy your morning coffee and looks out over the neighbouring houses while the rear patio, accessed through patio doors, also provides seating and is fully enclosed so your four-legged friend can safely stretch their legs. Doorstep walks take you to Stenkrith Park, where you can stroll along the old railway lines, viaducts and over the River Eden, ideal with or without your pet.
You can also spend an afternoon at the Smardale Nature Reserve, providing 3.5 miles of public footpaths looking over the magnificent rolling hills. If you do not fancy cooking one evening, venture out to one of the local eateries; Coast to Coast offers traditional fish and chips, whereas The Taggy Man, an old Cumbrian pub offers cask ales and hot meals for you to indulge in after a tiresome walk. A short and scenic car journey will take you to the wondrous National Park, the Yorkshire Dales, here you can take in the breath-taking views of the rolling hills and spend the day strolling or hiking around the landscapes.
The Wensleydale Creamery Visitor centre is less than 20 miles from the property, where you can tour the factory and gift shop made slightly more famous for being the favourite cheese of the iconic children's TV characters, Wallace and Gromit. Making your way east, you will reach the renowned Lake District National Park, home to an abundance of watersport activities and yet more walking and cycling routes, as well as plenty of eateries so you can stop for a spot of lunch before heading back to the cottage. Whatever the weather, 10 Eden Terrace is a superb base from which to explore this picturesque part of Britain.
Kirkby Stephen is an old market town lying at the foot of the Howgill Fells in the upper Eden Valley, conveniently located between the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks.
