This attractive detached barn conversion stands in a rural location adjacent to the owner’s home on the outskirts of the quaint, traditional market town of Alston, with its cobbled streets and historic charm situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The cosy living room with wood burning stove has a large, arched barn window with stunning views towards the fells. Retaining original beams and some exposed stone work the barn is an interesting mix of character and contemporary style. The location makes it a perfect place for exploring Cumbria, the Lake District and Hadrian’s Wall. There are also countryside walks, golf course, cycling routes and fishing. Shops and pubs ¾ mile.

We had a wonderfull time at Lord Mayors Barn. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was there. We loved the view from the living room and enjoyed watching the sheep with their lam. The area is stunning with a lot of hiking trails. Vivien and Simon are lovely and great hosts. They really look after their guests. We felt very welcome and looking forward to come back again.

We absolutely loved our stay here for a week in March. The barn is very comfortable has all you need. Lovely and warm, especially with the log burner going. Our hosts made us very welcome and they are very helpful. The countryside is stunning and found a lovely cafe and pub in Alston to eat out. We would highly recommend staying at the barn.
