Chuck End was a last minute booking looks ok in photos, price not too bad it is very old so a few creaks expected but upstairs, the landing, bedroom and especially the bathroom floors were terrible, if there were six people in the cottage everyone would be awake if anyone got up in the night to visit the bathroom absolutely awful. the bath *** shower is dangerous very high up a step too, once in it there’s another step down into tub, water was hot though, but when trying to climb out very difficult not safe at all,it needs a complete new bathroom and floor. only had one shower each during our stay to scared to try it again. but despite these things the rooms are big and comfy.shame Appleby is not closer so you could walk for a meal or shopping without the car, which had to be parked on the road. the owners were helpful shame we could not get in til four o’clock they say it was for cleaning but there were lots of cobwebs so not sure about that. once it’s had a new bathroom with shower and new floor we would recommend the cottage, but would point out that Appleby is a good 10 minutes drive away on a busy road A66 but worth the effort for a visit and good food.
