Guests say

The Hayloft offers a peaceful and cosy retreat on a working farm, ideal for those seeking tranquillity and a break from modern distractions. Guests consistently praise its cleanliness, well-equipped kitchen, and friendly, welcoming hosts. The location is perfect for exploring the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, and surrounding countryside, with beautiful walks and starry skies. While there is no WiFi and mobile signal can be patchy, most guests found this added to the charm. Occasional minor issues were quickly resolved by attentive hosts. Overall, The Hayloft is highly recommended for a relaxing countryside escape.

Multiple reviews highlight the cottage as very clean and well-maintained, with no significant complaints about cleanliness. Only positive remarks were made regarding the standard of cleanliness.

Guests frequently mention the beautiful, peaceful countryside setting and its convenience for exploring local attractions. The secluded farm location is praised, with easy access to nearby towns and walking routes.

Most guests found the cottage cosy, warm, and comfortable, with good bedding and furnishings. One guest found the bed too soft and chose to sleep elsewhere, but this was an isolated comment among otherwise positive feedback.

The kitchen is described as well-equipped, and the property offers good amenities such as a powerful shower and outdoor seating. The main drawback is the lack of WiFi and occasional issues with mobile signal, though these were often seen as positives by guests seeking a digital detox. Maintenance issues (e.g., heating and electricity) were rare and promptly addressed.

Many guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as complimentary milk, biscuits, and wine on arrival, as well as friendly and helpful hosts. Please note that these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

I had a lovely stay here. The place was clean, comfortable and exactly what I needed for a few days away. I was looking for somewhere to properly switch off, and being in the middle of nowhere was perfect. The owner was really friendly and sent clear instructions before I arrived, so finding the property was nice and easy. One of my favourite things was that there was no WiFi. I know that won't be for everyone, but I wanted a break from my busy life and it was exactly what I needed. You do get mobile signal, although with my network it was a little patchy at times.Kirkby Stephen is only a short drive away and has plenty of shops and places to eat, and it's a great base for exploring the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the Pennines.I'd definitely stay again if I was looking for a bit of peace and quiet.

A lovely oasis of peace and calm, set in the farm that have sheep and cows, the hay loft has a great sun trap patio, good furnishings nice bedding, dead easy to keep tidy during your stay. Appleby 5 miles one way little local shops, Kirkby Stephen 5 miles opposite way a lot more shops/ pubs/cafes co op and petrol station with a Spar shop. Parking at the side. Be aware though there is no wifi in flat! We went to pub 🤣 to download our phones, the farmer is a lovely man his mum met us there. Take your essentials tea/coffee and Milk if you want a cuppa when you arrive also toilet paper and Towels although you can hire them. Overall a lovely break
