Taking its name from the African meaning ‘peaceful’ Salaamata Lodge’s décor takes its inspiration from many parts of African life. This open plan designed semi-detached lodge gives a feeling of space. The living room, dining room and kitchen are combined to create a social hub with high-end furnishings throughout. The bedroom features a double bed, Freeview TV, luxurious soft furnishings and soft lighting, and is ideal for a romantic getaway. The bathroom has a large wet room and a shower and a roll-top bath, perfect for a soak in the bubbles after a long day of adventure. Allithwaite has a great local pub serving good food and local ales which is located just 150 yards from the entrance to the park. It also has a small village shop and post office. Just 2 miles to the east you’ll find the popular seaside resort of Grange-over-Sands with a good selection of shops, bars, restaurants and lovely walks both along the seafront and also around the parks. If you fancy a round of golf, the golf course is just 3 miles away. To the north you’ll reach the southern tip of Lake Windermere in just 8 miles; here you can take a ride on the Haverthwaite Steam Railway which connects seamlessly to the famous steamers on Lake Windermere offering pleasure rides to Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside daily.

If you like outdoor adventure, you’ll find amazing scenery and some beautiful fell walks within a few miles, whilst to the east, the popular town of Ulverston and the Laurel and Hardy Museum is well worth a visit.
