Guests say

Corner Cottage in Kirkby Stephen is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and convenient location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities and the thoughtful touches from the hosts, including welcome gifts. The property serves as an excellent base for exploring the Dales and Cumbria, with easy access to local amenities and scenic walks.

Guests consistently note the spotless condition of the cottage, highlighting its cleanliness as a standout feature. Regular linen changes and a well-maintained environment contribute to the high standards observed.

The cottage's location is frequently commended for its proximity to local shops, pubs, and the town centre. Its position allows for easy exploration of the Lake District and surrounding areas, despite occasional mentions of traffic noise and parking challenges.

Reviewers find the cottage to be warm, cosy, and comfortable, with comfortable beds and seating. The presence of baby gates, a highchair, and a cot for younger guests is also appreciated, although one mention of a bowed bedroom floor suggests a minor concern.

The cottage is well-equipped with all necessary amenities, and guests are satisfied with the kitchen and outdoor patio. However, there are comments about the need for maintenance, such as updating the bath, fixing a door lock, and replacing garden furniture, which slightly affect the score.

Many guests mention and are grateful for the welcome gifts left by the hosts, which include wine, chocolates, and other treats. While these gestures are highly appreciated, it is important to note that such gifts are a courtesy and may not be provided for every stay.

Plus on stripping the bed on departure, the bedding was very tired. However, the cottage was otherwise very clean, warm and comfortable and provided us with a most enjoyable stay. Perfectly situated in the centre of the village with ample roadside parking to the rear of the property on Faraday Road.

Spotlessly clean ,comfortable and cosy. Everything we needed was there. It was great to be able just to walk minutes to the market square where shops etc are. The only little moan was that the garden furniture needs replaced. We will certainly return and recommend.

Suspect a fault with the router. The owner, Linda, does not respond to calls, texts or e mail when we tried to contact her for a resolution. This is a recurring theme if you look at other reviews. Sykes managed to contact Linda who, surprise surprise, said the WIFI was working. It isn't. The cottage itself was comfortable and good value for money but on the basis that communication is so poor I really wouldn't recommend it. You have to contact Linda for the key code before arrival and she does not respond to calls, e mails etc. The kitchen desperately needs a new set of saucepans, all the non-stick has come off. Yuk!
