The town is also home to a fascinating heritage railway station, where you can enjoy a scenic pursuit on the historic Carlisle to Settle line - a must-do travel experience!

Outdoor lovers can easily embark on adventures from the apartment, surrounded by and on the borders of, what is effectively three National Parks; to the north lies the North Pennines, to the South is the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Lake District National Park to the west. While exploring the region, the market town of Kendal is within 20 miles, known as the gateway to the southern Lake District, and is the Cumbrian hotspot for retail therapy. There are many attractions to suit all tastes, making Wild Boar a splendid base in any season.

Visit the gothic gorge where the River Eden flows through woodland Stenkrith park, and enjoy numerous wonderful walks and cycle routes nearby, including the route of the former Darlington to Tebay train line over two magnificent viaducts.
