Step inside and you’ll find a lounge you’ll want to linger in; a multi-fuel stove, comfortable seating and magnificent ceiling set the scene for companionable evenings in front of the TV or listening to your favourite music. When it’s time to cook, the kitchen is equally quirky with stone walls and flooring, a Butler sink and electric AGA. There’s a small dining table here where four can chat while keeping an eye on what’s cooking, and when dinner is ready to be served, move into the dining room where there’s a beautiful antique table and chairs before a feature stone fireplace. There is an enclosed rear terrace while the rest of the garden blends harmoniously with the landscape.

On the western slopes of the Pennines, Garsdale is 7 miles east of Sedbergh and 9 miles west of Hawes – both are historic market towns with shops and eateries to suit all tastes. Further north lays Kirkby Stephen at the head of the Eden Valley, a popular centre for walkers and situated on the Cumbrian Way, which is a great route for all keen cyclists. To the south, you will find Kirkby Lonsdale, and its surrounding area of outstanding landscape still retains the same beauty appreciated by Constable, Turner and Ruskin.
