Guests say

Eden House is a spacious and well-equipped cottage, ideal for large groups and families. Guests consistently praise the beautiful grounds, excellent kitchen, and popular features such as the hot tub and sauna. The property offers plenty of space, comfortable beds, and a great location for exploring the Lake District. While most found the house clean and comfortable, a few noted minor maintenance and cleanliness issues, as well as occasional heating problems. The friendly staff and thoughtful touches are appreciated, though welcome packs are not always provided. Overall, Eden House offers a memorable and enjoyable stay in a stunning setting.

Most guests found the property clean and well-presented, with crisp linens and tidy spaces. However, a few reviews mentioned missed items (such as socks under beds, food debris in sofas, and broken glass), and some noted damp or mould in certain rooms. These issues were not widespread but did affect a minority of stays.

The location is highly praised for its beautiful grounds, proximity to walks and the beach, and peaceful setting. Guests enjoyed the rural feel while still being a short drive from Ulverston and local amenities.

Guests generally found the house very comfortable, with spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and plenty of space for large groups. Occasional comments mentioned some beds being less comfortable and heating issues in colder months, but these were addressed promptly by staff.

Facilities such as the hot tub, sauna, games room, and well-equipped kitchen were frequently highlighted as excellent. Minor issues included occasional maintenance needs (e.g., heating, dishwasher, sauna instructions), but overall, the amenities greatly enhanced guests' stays.

Some guests appreciated thoughtful touches like labelled cupboards and helpful staff. A few mentioned welcome packs or basic supplies at other properties, but these are not guaranteed at Eden House. Suggestions for improvement included providing more basics such as tea, coffee, and cleaning products.

About this property

A spacious detached cottage in the landscaped grounds of Eden Lodge, a country house on the outskirts of Bardsea, one mile from the traditional Lakeland market town of Ulverston and a short walk from Ulverston Golf Course. Set in beautiful, mature parkland overlooking Morecambe Bay, this Bardsea cottage provides an ideal base for families and groups of friends to get together and enjoy the beautiful Furness Peninsula and its attractions. There is a spacious sitting room in this Bardsea cottage, with an adjoining conservatory/summer room and doors to a private garden. There is also a spacious master bedroom with en-suite shower room; a further five well laid-out bedrooms and an unusual first floor farmhouse-style kitchen with large table and a small wooden balcony area.

Offering country living at its best, this Bardsea cottage provides that little bit of extra luxury with its own private, roofed outdoor six-seater hot tub and a large wood-fired hexagonal sauna. The beach is a leisurely ten minute walk away from this Bardsea cottage, and the Manjushri Buddhist Temple and its beautiful wooded grounds are close by, whilst Ulverston Golf Club is also just a few minutes' walk away. The festival town of Ulverston is just one mile away from this cottage in Bardsea, with its many pubs, restaurants and bi-weekly market, while the sandy beaches of the Furness coast, and Coniston, with its mountain biking, climbing and watersports are just a short drive away.

An excellent holiday base with a touch of luxury. Note: This property is in the grounds of Ref. 918339, together they sleep 39.

Positioned on a hill overlooking Morecambe Bay is the small village of Bardsea. This remote settlement grew from a small fishing village and farming area to become a major transportation link for coal, iron ore and corn. Today, Bardsea still retains its fishing heritage, and features two pubs, both of which serve fine ales and good food. The village itself is located close to Furness Abbey, whilst the market town of Ulverston is just two miles away, and maintains its street market tradition, hosting one every Thursday and Saturday throughout the year. Ulverston is also the location for many festivals including an amazing lantern procession in November and a Dickensian weekend in early December. With all the attractions of the Lake District National Park within easy driving distance, and the sandy beaches of the Furness coast close by, this peaceful spot has plenty to offer.

Hot tub was lovely. Lots of equipment in the kitchen which was a big plus. Beds comfy. Little farm was an added bonus. The listing states in one place that there are 4 bathrooms and then when detailing the layout of the property, only give details of 3. There are 3 bathrooms/shower rooms inc the en-suite and 2 separate toilets. This was a little misleading. Couldn’t get the jets on the bath to work, but that may have been a user error :)

We enjoyed the facilities and the grounds. It was well heated, clean and comfortable, although the hot water in the kitchen was temperamental at times!
