On the ground floor is a large open plan living/kitchen/dining area, with a cosy wood burner, Chesterfield sofas, steampunk lamps, an original factory clock and a wardrobe steamer trunk cum coffee table owned by Colonel Jarl Warhlstrom, make this space rather impressive. The handcrafted kitchen, with stunning Belfast sink and polished concrete worktops, has a large central island created from an architect’s plan chest which serves as a great breakfast bar.

Accessed by a unique open-tread staircase is the first floor reading area. With its refurbished G-plan chairs, original factory lighting and gentlemen’s club wallpaper, this is a great place to chill out with a book or play a board game. Located off the reading area you will find two comfortable bedrooms. Both have bespoke lighting and Velux windows with great views over the surrounding countryside. The first floor accommodation is completed by the family bathroom. With black subway tiles and gold geometric border, sewing machine pedestal with glass basin, a huge copper profile shower and a cast iron roll-top bath that will easily fit two, this bathroom really has the wow factor.

Outdoors is a patio area with BBQ, perfect for al fresco dining, as well as a private 6-person hot tub. There is also plenty of parking so that you can leave the car behind and explore the beautiful countryside right on your doorstep.

The Rookery is located in the village of Roughlee, close to the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in an area that is famous for its witches. The trials of The Pendle Witches in 1612 are among the most famous witch trials in English history, and the statue of Alice Nutter can be seen in the village. Follow in their trail and take a walk up Pendle Hill. Alternatively, why not try out some of the wonderful cycle routes in the area. There are several good pubs serving food within a few miles of the property, many of which welcome dogs. Barrowford, 2 miles, has a good variety of shops and eateries as well as a wine bar, restaurant and small supermarket.

Apart from great walking and beautiful scenery, there are plenty of wonderful places to visit within easy driving distance. Haworth and Brontë Country are just 15 miles away, and the market town of Skipton with its medieval castle is 18 miles. Lancashire’s Ribble Valley, with its picturesque villages and welcoming country inns, is within a 30-minute drive, the Yorkshire Dales can be reached in 40 minutes, and even the Lake District can be reached in just over an hour. There are several castles and houses worth visiting, including Gawthorpe Hall, 7 miles, Towneley Hall, 9 miles, and Bolton Abbey, 25 miles. Fishing can also be found in the vicinity.
