We were really looking forward to this holiday. On arrival it all looked great. We entered the lodge and had a look around. It didn’t look as good as we had expected it to look. We took our pictures and I went into the room we would be using. Great to see a tv in the bedroom, lots of storage space and a bath and overhead shower. I then lifted the toilet seat and it clearly hadn’t been cleaned. There was a substance on the toilet seat that was either poo or blood and in the toilet the same on the pan. No excuse for this and it definitely isn’t for me to have to clean someone else’s mess off the seat and pan.It then made me have a better look around after I took pictures of the toilet. There was a crisp packet under the sofa a vape and sweets and behind the tv you could see it hadn’t seen a hoover in god knows how long. The tv was rocking on its stand so we closed the curtains and left it closed. Looking around the edges in all the rooms and from the bits on the floor this lodge hadn’t been cleaned. Cobwebs that were old as they had dust on them in all the rooms. I took my pictures for future reference once I got home. Being on a corner you expect to hear the cars going up and down but you down expect the people on the opposite side to leave their curtains open all night with the tv on which kept reflecting into our bedroom. The bed was awful so uncomfortable and the sofas were the same. The place needs a good deep clean new mattresses and the sofa re springing. It looks tired and it’s not a place I will go back to. A huge let down but the area and shops are great and we enjoyed our time away from there. I would go back to the area but not to that site. There’s no excuse for not cleaning the property and definitely not cleaning someone’s mess off the toilet and seat. You are asked to remove bedding before you leave the property which we did , it’s a shame we didn’t get what we expected from the lodge.

We were impressed by the levels of comfort and provision and the wonderful location of the lodge. There were no obvious drawbacks or problems, leaving us to settle in easily and then enjoy outings in the surrounding countryside. We would return without hesitation, which is perhaps the best way of confirming the overall excellence of the accommodation. Ready hot water and warmth (necessary in the evening in October) are not to be underestimated and helped us feel at home. A great break and place to catch up with family members living in Manchester.
