Walk out behind the cottage onto Crompton Moor or down the Tame valley to the beautiful historic village of Delph. A stones throw from the Peak District National Park, it provides a wonderful base for anyone looking for a break in an area renowned for its quaint villages, vast countryside and lively towns with real ale pubs. Perfect for lovers of the great outdoors the surrounding area is home to ten reservoirs including Dovestone, Chew Brook, Greenfield and Yeoman Hay all of which provide scenic circular walking routes. Nearby Tandle Hill Country Park provides 48 hectares of parkland to explore and the Pennine Way is also easily accessible. For golf lovers Saddleworth Golf Club has an excellent 18-hole course and Lancaster Park and Animal Farm is a great day out for all the family.

Around a 15-minute drive is the wonderful Yorkshire village of Marsden, home to a range of attractions including the National Trust Marsden Moor Estate and the Standedge Tunnel Visitors Centre. Holmfirth, recognisable as the backdrop to ’Last of the Summer Wine’ and also home to its own vineyard is around a 30-minute drive, as are the market towns of Halifax and Huddersfield.
