In a quiet location, this detached holiday cottage is set in the owner’s grounds, just a short stroll from the beach and renowned Lord Street - a wide Victorian street with a wide variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. There really is something for everyone; golf at Royal Birkdale, bird watching along the coast, and the very rare red squirrels at Formby. Southport, which boasts a theatre, lovely parks and Splash World, plays host to a wide selection of events ranging from the National Fireworks Display, an air show together with jazz and food and drink festivals. Shop, pub and restaurant 300 yards.

A small family, we enjoyed our stay at The Cottage at Stanley Villa. It is located behind the large Villa, as such it was necessary to park on the gravel Villa driveway at front, or off-street, and walk to around the back of the house to the Cottage. Owner Lindsey herself gave us a warm welcome with instructions, and the welcome pack provided was generous and tasty. The Cottage is restful, spacious, clean, modern, very comfortable, and, well-furnished with enough storage. The heating turns on quickly, yet the boiler vibrated a little which was disconcerting at first. The cottage is quiet and warm at night, despite the storms that raged around us. The kitchen, a dark blue, was quite light in the morning yet became dark early on, better lighting is required in that room, yet all appliances worked well. It was quite quick to walk to Lord Street, the pier, the Atkinson gallery, and the Lawnmower Museum, all very good attractions in Southport. We visited Formby and Crosby golden beaches, which are wonderful and interesting. Overall, a lovely stay at The Cottage.

The cottage is in an excellent location and the hosts were very friendly and they sorted out a problem with the heating. We found the lighting insufficient for our needs.Thee were minor issues with the cleanliness of a bedsheet and a towel. There was an lot of dust inside the radiators which caused a problem as one of us has breathing difficulties.
