Set within the boundary of the owners’ own property, Garden Retreat is perfect for romantic getaways, and lies within the quiet village of Marbury. It enjoys stunning views over the village, including the nearby lake and church. For those wanting to get out and explore the area, there is plenty to see and do including plenty of walks, as well as the Cheshire Cycleway (Regional Route 70) and the Llangollen branch of the Shropshire Union Canal. Shrewsbury town is approximately 30 minutes’ drive away and boasts an array of bars, shops and restaurants. After a busy day sightseeing, guests can return to the property and enjoy the private garden with garden furniture overlooking the nearby lake. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 90 yards.

I can't say how warm was the welcome from Hannah! I booked last-minute and in spite of her own activities, she offered such a warm and friendly welcome! The cottage was exactly as pictured and, even in the midst of winter, the property was cosy and warm. Excellent comfy chairs, wonderfully crisp linen and massive bed that enabled me to sleep so well!The village is beautiful, with opportunities to visit pub, church and take walks along the canal. Just perfect for a getaway in the English countryside. Oh,and if you have chance, Hannah's cooked breakfasts are a real treat!

The Garden Retreat is almost ineffable. Tucked away in scenic Shropshire countryside with a quintessentially English pub across the road, it boasts a wonderful combination of the old and the new. Check-in was simple and quick, parking was ample, and the homemade cookies waiting for us on arrival were most welcome. The lower floor kitchen has everything we needed for a 4 day working holiday. The middle floor boasted a beautiful sitting and dining area with immense views out to the Shropshire countryside. All the features are quirky and intriguing, particularly the wonderful canvases which, fitting with the style, are modern with a story back to times gone by. The upper floor contains a huge, comfortable bed with sumptuous Egyptian cotton bedding and luxury free-standing bath. There is plenty of room for storage and lots of space to sit and admire the surroundings. A shower room, complete with quality toiletries completes the cottage and has a modern shower. My overriding memory of The Garden Retreat will be how it had a wonderful habit of drawing me to thinking about its history, while absorbing its modern luxury. A credit to its hosts
