This is a great cottage equipped with everything you might need, including a full gas hob and electric fan oven. The lounge is very comfortable and very spacious, with a large TV, and it is basically a full-size kitchen with everything you could want, from pots and pans to fridge and freezer. The bathroom has a nice large walk-in shower, but no bath (not a problem at all for me.) There is plenty of storage in the bedroom and a comfy bed, but it was a little cramped--especially when the lounge was so spacious--but I only slept in there, so it didn't matter at all. There's no washing machine, (I wasn't expecting one) but there is an outside line and inside rack, so it is easy to hand-wash any items you desperately need. There is a little outside area where you can sit. It isn't particularly scenic, but it is a good suntrap. There's not much in Standish itself, but there are supermarkets etc. in Wigan, which is about 5 miles away. It is a good location for getting into Manchester and Liverpool and is close to the M6 and M61. There is a very nice walk out the back of the cottage around the reservoirs, and you can go further up through the woods to the canal. It was very clean, very comfortable, spacious and well-equipped, and the owners were very helpful and understanding when I had to delay my arrival by a day. A great place and I'd definitely recommend it.
