About this property
Doe Lea is a very handsome stone cottage in the midst of the lovely old leadmining village of Winster. You will be really pleased as you push open the front door and find the super interior. National Trust coloured decoration, oatmealy rugs on stone flagged floors, comfortable furniture and a glowing log burning stove make this a 'true country cottage'.
Clinging to the side of beautiful Wensley Dale, Winster is just as nice with its historic conservation area, jumbles of cottages and network of secret paths and alleyways each with their own name. Wander down 'Chip Shop Hill' to the sell anything village store, walk the 'Burma Road' to the Miners Standard for a super lunch, find 'East Bank' and the Bowling Green Inn for a drink and evening meal.
Both are lovely pubs but don't overstay their friendly welcome because you will need bright and early mornings to explore all the nearby attractions - Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, Carsington Water and Castleton's Caverns, Bolsover Castle and South Wingfield Manor, Crich's Tramway Museum and Peak Rail's steam trains, tranquil Lathkill Dale and the wild moorlands of Kinder Scout - the list is endless!
Cottage facilities:
A spacious lounge with comfortable furniture, super drapes and rugs, glowing log burning stove, T.V., DVD and Wi Fi. A lovely dining room with mellow oak furniture. A quality fitted kitchen with pine dining table and chairs, cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer and automatic washer. An attractive double bedroom. A similar twin bedroom. A lovely bathroom with bath/shower over and W.C.
Linen and towels are provided. Central heating, power and an initial supply of fuel for the stove are included. A cot and high chair can be requested. There is a flowered filled front garden with seating and bike storage to secure hoop in wall. A secluded rear patio with furniture. Easy parking is on the village street outside. Pets and smoking are not permitted. Access for people with disabilities may be difficult.
Weekly bookings are normally Saturday to Saturday but short breaks are available throughout the year excluding Xmas and New Year.
