About this property

Settled in the traditional Pennine town of Holmfirth in West Yorkshire, is this lovely end-terrace, three-storey cottage, Kingfisher Cottage. Enjoying an idyllic and peaceful location alongside the River Holme in central Holmfirth with easy access to the stunning Peak District National Park, Kingfisher Cottage is a fantastic dwelling for a group or family of five. You will be greeted by a charming front patio with table and chairs, the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee to the sound of the flowing river. Step into the spacious kitchen/diner, featuring a large island for food prep, a dishwasher and washing machine, where you can enjoy delicious meals at the dining table for five in front of the warming inglenook electric fire. After dinner, climb the stairs up to the first floor, where you will find a generous sitting room with three plush sofas, a Smart TV and an electric fire, a haven to relax in after a day of exploring. Make your way up to the second floor to indulge in a relaxing soak in the bath or freshen up with a shower, before choosing from three well-appointed bedrooms, two king-size, one with zip/link and both offering beautiful views overlooking the river, and a snug single room. Explore the local town, well-known for being the setting of The Last of the Summer Wine TV series, with Nora Batty’s cottage just paces from your holiday home! Fans of the show can visit the popular Last of the Summer Wine Exhibition which also houses a gift shop or hop aboard the Summerwine Magic Tour bus where you can visit key locations from the hit series, including Sid’s Café where you can grab a light bite! You will be spoilt for choice for places to eat, from fresh seafood at Catch Seafood to brunches, platters and cocktails at The Hide Out to flavourful tapas at Tap House Bar & Bistro, there is something for everyone! Keen cyclists will delight at the good selection of routes available from the doorstep, including the roads formerly ridden by the pelotons in the Tour De France and the Tour De Yorkshire to reach the renowned 524-metre Holme Moss climb. For an evening of entertainment, be sure to check out a live performance at the popular Picturedrome! Take advantage of your close proximity to the Peak District National Park, where you can explore limestone caverns, visit the historic sites of Chatsworth House and Pilsbury Castle, ride the alpine-style cable cars at Matlock, or climb the imposing peaks of Mam Tor and Kinde Scout. If you want to see the sights but don’t fancy the hike, hop aboard a vintage steam train and ride along the Peak Rail. All this and more awaits with a stay at Kingfisher Cottage.

Holmfirth, a typical West Yorkshire Pennine town, is nestled in the picturesque Holme Valley at the foot of the West Yorkshire Pennines. Compo and Nora Battye's stockings aren't the only things that Holmfirth has to offer! The 'Picturedrome', the best live music venue in the north of England, is located directly in the middle of town and attracts many notable bands. Holme Valley, a small town in the Holme Valley Valley, is about two miles from the 524-meter Holme Moss climb on the 2014 Tour de France and the 2014 Tour de Yorkshire. These are the hills where Ed Clancy, the three-time Olympian cyclist, grew up.

Great communication from the owners. Loved Holmfirth and the bus service is excellent to some very nice surrounding villages. Pubs in village nice and friendly. Lots of options for eating out and takeaways ... recommend the chinese. Great shops for all manner of things. Parking is a nightmare as it's very busy with locals and through traffic so once you manage to get a parking space leave the car there as its best to use the buses like we did to get out and about. We will definitely return.

It had everything we needed. The living room was perfect for relaxing with the family. Plenty of room for everyone.

We would recommend Kingfisher Cottage without hesitation, in fact we already have and we hope to return very soon.
