Guests say

The Old Byre is highly praised for its stunning views, cosy atmosphere, and excellent location for exploring the Peak District. Guests appreciate the well-equipped cottage, the warm hospitality of the hosts, and the thoughtful touches like homemade shortbread. Despite some comments about draughty windows, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Guests consistently mention the cottage being spotless and beautifully furnished, indicating a high level of cleanliness throughout their stay.

The property is celebrated for its wonderful views and proximity to local attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring the Peak District, though one review mentioned it being somewhat isolated.

The majority of guests found the cottage cosy and comfortable, with a wood burner and underfloor heating mentioned positively. However, there were remarks about draughty windows and the cottage being cool, slightly affecting the comfort score.

The Old Byre is described as well-equipped with all necessary facilities, including a good-sized field for dog walking. One guest mentioned a restricted shower for larger individuals, which suggests a minor issue with maintenance.

Several reviews highlight the hosts' thoughtfulness, mentioning homemade shortbread and a bottle of prosecco. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it should be noted that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

Warm and welcoming hosts but not intrusive. The Old Byre was cosy and comfortable. Furnishings were great quality and underfloor heating was a real luxury to have in the cold and damp week we booked. All as described and we will be back to appreciate this beautiful setting, hopefully in dryer weather 🤣Thank you Helen, Kevin & Pippa 🥰

Just returned from a lovely week at The Old Byre. The views are wonderful!Easy access to all the lovely villages and walks that The Peak District offers. The Reform pub is just a short drive away and the menu /food is excellent. Leek is also a short drive away with all the facilitates you'd expect from a small town. And compared to my local prices, the petrol was cheap. The cottage was very well equipped and cosy - I was there whilst the country was being battered by high winds and inside the cottage it was all quiet and calm. There is a good size field to walk around and exercise dogs - particularly useful for the morning/last thing at night walk. The hosts are lovely - all messages responded to quickly and nothing is too much trouble.I would definitely stay again
