About this property
The Dairy sits on the Burghley Estate in the heart of Capability Brown parkland, landscaped during the 1760s. After careful restoration, this historic building has been transformed into beautiful holiday accommodation with all the luxurious comforts of modern life provided within a timeless and Arcadian setting.
The Dairy is comprised of two wings named Cecil Cottage and Exeter Cottage, making it ideal for a group of friends, family reunions and all manner of celebrations including wedding parties. Wherever possible, original features from the dairy have been kept and reused along with the introduction of some antique paintings, prints and furniture from the collections at Burghley House. Award-winning interior designer, Thomas Hamel, has created spectacular dining and living spaces enjoying open fires and wonderful views. Every room has the advantage of an en-suite bathroom with deep bath tubs and walk-in showers. There is space for your dogs and an enclosed garden.
The Dairy is within walking distance of Burghley House which offers a full calendar of events and facilities. These include concerts, country fairs and food markets, car rallies, the Burghley Film festival and the world class Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. The Orangery Restaurant, is open most days from mid-January to Christmas and while the park around the House is accessible all year during daylight hours, the House and Gardens can be enjoyed from mid-March until November. Guests at the Dairy will have privileged access through the park and be able to walk down the 18th Century drive known as ‘Capability’s Cutting’ to the beautiful Lion Bridge and across the lake, one of Brown’s most iconic landscape features.
Additional Information:
The Dairy will accept up to two well-behaved dogs (small additional charge), however please ensure they are kept in the boot room overnight. For reasons of hygiene and out of consideration for future guests, we ask pet owners to limit your dog to living areas only of The Dairy and keep them off any furniture. Dogs are not permitted in the bedrooms.
Please note that The Dairy does not have a completely enclosed garden and dogs will need to be kept under control and on a lead at all times. The Dairy is situated within the grounds of Burghley House with a full mix of grazing livestock.

We had a fabulous stay at The Dairy, the photos do not really show how much space there is here, whilst keeping a homely cosy feel. All the bedrooms are lovely, nobody will be disappointed staying here. Plenty of room to separate or come together as a group, bags of room for catering and food prep and easy to fit in all food and drink we needed for our 3 night stay. The hamper was a beautiful bonus and yes we finished everything in it. Tea pigs tea a plenty, no need to pack and we are a large family of tea drinkers, that was especially welcome. The Dairy is warm - a little too warm at times for some! Beautiful views, we took advantage of tickets to the gardens and walked the grounds, I imagine staying here for the horse trials is a very special experience. For those wondering, the mezzanine above Telemachus bedroom is completely separate from the main bedroom, you are only sharing a bathroom so worked well for us, the other mezzanine bedrooms are through bedrooms but cannot see down to below. Very much deserves 5 stars

Wow……… an amazing large property extremely comfortable, well maintained and kept to a very high spec! Our party consisted of 18, varying age ranges, all celebrating my 70th birthday. The space the property offered was perfect , having a dining table to accommodate 18 for dinner in the most amazing dining room! Position of the property gave us the peace and quiet we enjoy with a fantastic view of Burghley Stately home and grounds. Amazing property we will be back!
