Godre'r Gyrn is a beautifully restored, listed barn conversion in Llansilin, Powys, surrounded by sweeping hills and quiet countryside that feels wonderfully removed from everyday life. Perfect for families or friends seeking a luxurious rural getaway, this five-tick home blends original character with contemporary style. The property offers six en-suite bedrooms, including a master with its own bathroom; three are super-king-size, two with zip/link flexibility, and then two twin that can be made into a super king, giving your group plenty of choice and space as well as a separate king. Inside, the reverse-level layout makes the most of the views.
On the first-floor mezzanine, the open-plan kitchen, dining area, and sitting area form a bright, sociable heart of the home, where exposed beams, carefully chosen furnishings, and countryside vistas set the tone for slow breakfasts and relaxed evenings. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need, and the utility room adds extra fridge and freezer space, a washing machine, and handy storage. Downstairs, the second sitting room invites you to settle in beside the log burner with a good film or a glass of wine, ideal after a day spent exploring. Step outside to the enclosed rear and front garden, where a patio, lawn, and comfortable seating offer plenty of space to unwind, and the bubbling hot tub provides an indulgent end to any day.
Surrounded by 250 acres of your own private farm land including the Gyrn mountain from your doorstep, you can walk as little or as much as you desire. An upstairs cloakroom and generously sized rooms help ensure a smooth and spacious stay throughout. Although Llansilin feels wonderfully peaceful, you’re well placed for memorable days out. In Oswestry, discover independent shops, ancient hillforts, and a vibrant market that reflects the town’s strong border heritage. Llangollen offers something completely different, with the dramatic Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, riverside walks, heritage steam railway journeys, and the rugged trails leading towards the Horseshoe Pass. For those who enjoy a mix of outdoor adventure and history, Llanymynech delivers scenic nature reserves, remnants of its industrial past, and a popular golf course set against far-reaching countryside views.
With its blend of character and unforgettable scenery, Godre'r Gyrn offers a truly memorable Welsh escape for groups looking to savour the very best of rural Powys. Note: This property can be booked with 1020502, 1020501, 912237, 1177568, 1177569 and 1177801 together they can sleep 18 people.
Llansilin is an attractive, rural village which stands between the ancient English border town of Oswestry, and the Welsh village of Llanhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, home to Pistyll Rhaeadr, the UK’s highest single drop waterfall. The sleepy village of Llansilin boasts a pub, a small community shop and the 13th century St. Silin Church, but is well known for being the main location of the successful 1995 film “The Englishman Who Went Up A Hill But Came Down A Mountain”, as well as being the home of Sycharth, which was the site of Owain Glyndwr’s 14th century castle. The whole area is surrounded by lovely countryside, which extends into the Berwyn Mountain Range - perfect for wonderful scenic walks and cycle trails, including along the Berwyn Ridge Pathway, the Offa’s Dyke Path and through the beautiful Ceiriog Valley, known as “The Valley of Poets”. Visit the riverside town of Llangollen with the nearby Pontcysylle Aqueduct, a World Heritage Site, Chirk and Powis Castles, Erddig and Attingham Park, or visit the nearby market town of Ellesmere, once described by Alan Bennet as ‘Shropshire’s Lake District’. Further afield lies the Welsh mountains and coast and picturesque Lakes Vyrnwy and Bala, while the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, Medieval Shrewsbury and Roman Chester are also within easy driving distance. Llansilin is an ideal base for exploring Mid Wales, Shropshire and beyond.
