The conservatory off the kitchen is perfect for dining and lounging, and there are fabulous views over rolling countryside. We were two friends meeting for a catch up; it has ample parking and everything we needed for the week. Clean and tidy with fresh flowers on the table and a pint of milk in the fridge.

It is situated off a quiet cul-de-sac consisting of the village of Upper Pollicott so was very peaceful. The cottage itself had everything we needed and was clean, tidy and just right for the two of us. The view from the conservatory over the valley was superb and we could watch trains running along the Chiltern Main Line. The garden was mainly an orchard (hence its name) which was pleasant to spend time in, watching the swifts, red kites, bees and butterflies as some of the garden was kept wild. There are many attractions nearby, our highlights being Waterperry Gardens, Quainton Road Railway Museum and Bekonscot Model Village. Unfortunately the nearby Waddesdon Manor was closed for location filming during our stay but Claydon House (NT) was a good substitute. Other NT properties visited were Cliveden and Hughenden Manor. Weather was superb throughout. Getting about was easy as the roads away from the main roads were not too busy and Thame with a variety of shops was nearby and easy to reach. Thame Parkway Station offered fast and frequent services to London, Birmingham and Oxford and was also useful for visiting local towns such as High Wycombe, Princes Risborough and Bicester among others. All in all a lovely break and we will return to Orchard Cottage again.
