About this property

Well-positioned in the heart of Eastbourne, a bustling coastal resort in East Sussex is Star Cottage, a contemporary, two-bedroom abode. Within walking distance to a hub of activity, brimming with amenities, attractions and the beach, Star Cottage is well-equipped for a seascape, inviting four guests and their furry companion. Park up to the roadside and step indoors to be greeted by a homely sitting room, complete with plush seating to sink into with the Smart TV on in the backdrop. Next door you will locate the handy kitchen/diner, with a drop-leaf table to save space whilst rustling up delicious meals; dine indoors or climb the external steps to gather upon the elevated patio for an alfresco affair. As day turns into night, enjoy a long soak in the roll-top bath, located in the sleek, ground-floor bathroom, before catching some rest from one of two double bedrooms on offer. Once you're ready to head to the coastline, take advantage of the abundance of shops, pubs, restaurants, and cafés, just a stone's throw away, easing your self-catered stay, followed by a visit to Eastbourne Pier, the art gallery of Towner Eastbourne, the Eastbourne Lifeboat Museum, and the pretty Italian Gardens. Travel west to reach Seaford for a day at the beach, where you'll also locate Seaford Head Golf Course, the Seaford Museum of Local History, and the Seaford Head Nature Reserve, perfect for those preferring nature-filled landscapes. Rerouting east, touring Hastings is a must whilst in the area, offering something for everyone, with attractions including Hastings Castle, Hastings Beach, and Hastings Museum & Art Gallery, before discovering Hastings Pier, where you can dine out, sample some local menus, and take in the breath-taking coastal vistas. All of this awaits at Star Cottage.

Eastbourne is the perfect location for a seaside holiday and has been since Queen Victoria was on the throne. With its mild climate and easy access from London, this lovely coastal town has increased its appeal throughout the centuries. With 5 miles of award-winning shingle beaches to stroll along, you can enjoy the sea air even if you aren't quite ready for a swim. Eastbourne's historic pier, built in around 1866, offers entertainment all day and well into the night with its amusement arcade, cafes, shops, and nightclub, and from here you can even take a speed boat ride around the bay. After a day of visiting the museums, art galleries or numerous antiques shops in the town, why not sit and watch the waves roll by as you enjoy afternoon tea in Victorian Tea Rooms on the pier? Golfers are spoilt for choice with four golf courses close by, and tennis is also a popular sporting choice with the aegon International women’s and men’s tournaments taking place in June prior to Wimbledon. There is even an Eastbourne Extreme weekend, with demonstrations in mountain biking, skateboarding, sailing, windsurfing and many other sports, so if you are energetic and willing, get down there and join the fun! For those who prefer to be entertained, take your seats in one of the four major theatres that Eastbourne is home to, offering all types of entertainment from traditional seaside shows and musicals to classical ballets and opera. If you are lucky enough to be here in August, bring a picnic and be prepared for Airbourne, an international flying event which passes over the sea. If you fancy a day away from the beach, there are many other places to visit in Eastbourne, including Treasure Island for warm, sunny days or the Drusillas Park Zoo. So, if you are looking for a holiday spot with something for everyone, look no further than Eastbourne.

The grill pan was greasy and all mugs were unwashed. The hand soap dispenser was empty in bathroom, and no bin. The sheets and duvet cover are unpleasant polyester cotton, with stained mattress covers and one pillowcase was badly marked. The front bedroom would benefit from a curtain due to lights on overnight in antique shop opposite. There is little storage in second bedroom and tins of paint in one cupboard alongside extra pillows (already 4 provided) and covers in the front bedroom. The hot water thermostat is set too high and could scale someone. Already others have mentioned the bathtub issue, it could be solved with circular shower curtain and head fixed to wall. Overall disappointed with the facilities and cleanliness.

Very cosy and we spent a lovely few days over Xmas visiting family. The only downside was the bathroom- although it was very beautiful, it was not practical. A walk in shower would be much easier. The flush on the toilet was also a bit temperamental.

We were made to feel special straight away with the welcome basket. A warm, cosy, original cottage in the heart of the friendly old town. Amenities close to hand and a great base for sight seeing/ visiting old haunts. Clean & well maintained. Cosy beds, great kitchen, cute living space, lovely bathroom ( great first a pamper) and plush carpet. Useful feedback: Kitchen: Would benefit from a tin opener/ bottle opener, waste food recycling bin, glass recycling bin outside and a sieve. Left hand tap handle kept falling off. Living room: instruction folder for telly, heating and microwave. Comments book & a lamp (for subdued lighting in evening). We used two from upstairs and made it feel even more cosy. We were there when bad weather struck so lots of cold air coming in under front door. Optional draft excluder may help in winter months. We know this is a new holiday rental and is work in progress so this is why we have added more suggestions. For me, my sister, two girls and a dog this was a fantastic property and nice to see a different aspect of the old town. Our grandparents used to live in Eastbourne and this break helped us say goodbye.
