Guests say

Breaches Barn in Fordingbridge offers a spacious and comfortable stay with a rustic charm, set in a peaceful farm location ideal for country walks and family gatherings. Guests appreciate the welcoming atmosphere, the proximity to local amenities, and the opportunity for children to engage with farm life. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is highly regarded, with many expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found the accommodation clean and welcoming, though a few mentioned areas that could benefit from additional attention. The majority of reviews do not raise significant concerns about cleanliness, suggesting a generally high standard.

The location is frequently praised for its perfect balance of peaceful countryside and easy access to local shops and attractions. The proximity to the New Forest and various day trips contributes to a high score in this category.

Guests find the barn spacious and comfortable, with a homely feel. Some guests mentioned issues with creaky beds and a lack of privacy for beds on the landing, but overall, the comfort level is rated positively.

The property offers a range of facilities, including a tennis court and farm animal interactions. However, some guests reported maintenance issues with the tennis court, dishwasher, and security concerns with a door, leading to a slightly lower score.

While some guests mentioned a lack of welcome gifts, which could be seen as a thoughtful touch, there is not enough consistent information across reviews to accurately score this category. It should be noted that while such gestures are appreciated, they are not guaranteed.

About this property

In the historic village of Rockbourne is West Park Farm, a working beef and arable farm. Occasionally, if you’d like to get involved, you may be able to help the owner with day to day farm tasks, and you are welcome to explore the pretty bluebell wood. Also onsite, you'll find a large pond, and a hard tennis court, which you are welcome to use (but please bring your own racquets). Breaches Barn is full of character, retaining many original features, high raftered ceilings, exposed brickwork and oak timbers, and with its huge central living space is great for family and friends wanting to get and be together.

The comfortable and spacious living room has a wood burner, and deep comfy sofas, one of which can be converted into a double bed. The open plan kitchen/dining area is large enough for the whole family to eat and be together. Patio doors lead to your own private, enclosed garden looking over open countryside. There is a newly built extension on the ground-floor of the property, offering a choice of two bedrooms, a king-size double and a super-king-size with zip/link feature that can be made into a twin on request, each with their own en-suite shower rooms, along with outdoor access to this part of the barn with a ramp that leads to a large decking area and is suitable for wheelchairs.

Upstairs, the original hay chutes have been retained, (though are now safely sealed off), and the area converted into a galleried sitting area with TV, and twin stacker beds. Also upstairs, three bright sunny bedrooms in the eaves; a double, a twin and family room with three single beds. Breaches Barn is ideally placed for exploring the New Forest, the cathedral city of Salisbury , and the sandy beaches of Bournemouth and Christchurch.

Rockbourne is a pretty, historic village. Home to thatched cottages next to a willow-bordered stream on the edge of the New Forest, Rockbourne is packed full of history with Neolithic and Bronze Age barrows.

We had an absolutely fantastic time staying at this beautiful barn! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the hosts had thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The property was clean, beautifully decorated, and well-equipped with everything we needed. The location was perfect, offering a peaceful retreat while still being conveniently close to local attractions and amenities. The hosts were welcoming, but gave us the space to be independent. We especially enjoyed the spacious lounge and log burner, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The attention to detail and the overall comfort of the place made our stay feel like a home away from home. We would definitely return and highly recommend this holiday let to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in a beautiful setting!

The area is beautiful and fun to be on the farm. Plenty of bedrooms for us all, however we didn’t have the full numbers due to illness. I feel that it lacked the little touches that we are used to when staying in holiday cottages such as a small welcome pack or decorations fitting the time of year. I have never had to take our own towels before and the kitchen lacked a few basics e.g. bread knife.

The barn was warm and welcoming on our arrival and the fire was burning. There was a good supply of logs, which kept us going throughout our stay. The kitchen is well equipped too.
