About this property
West Lodge is a unique and historic building, dating back to the early 1800’s.
The detached is one of a pair of listed gate lodges which stand at the entrance to the West Park Estate (see also East Lodge-Ref. 988986).
West Lodge has been completely refurbished and imaginatively extended to provide unusual and highly desirable holiday accommodation, graded 4 stars and given a Gold Award by Visit England.
Inside, the property is stylishly furnished and all the accommodation is on ground floor level, with bright and attractive octagonal shaped rooms.
A really unique and special place to stay.
The Lodges at West Park are situated at one end of the picturesque ancient village of Rockbourne. A walk through the village takes you past many thatched brick and timber cottages alongside the bourne (stream). The Rose and Thistle pub is at the other end, a stroll back could include a visit to the 11th/12th century church of Saint Andrew with its flint structure and tiled roof. The famous Rockbourne Roman Villa is a short walk away from the lodges.
This detached, 19th century building can be found in Rockbourne, Hampshire. It is the perfect location for exploring the unspoilt countryside of Cranborne Chase and the cathedral cities of Salisbury and the South Dorset coast, all within driving distance. Rockbourne has many independent stores, restaurants and pubs, including the popular pub The Rose & Thistle a few minutes’ walk from the property.

It has it's own parking bay and shortly after arrival Laura (the owner) will arrive and make sure everything is perfect for your stay, and if needed is always a call away if you need anything. The property has heating throughout and a radiator in the bedroom for colder months, including heated blankets on the bed. A great open fire with supplies will keep you toasty throughout, and don't worry if you don't know how to set up as instructions are there. Plenty of supplies have been put in the kitchen to welcome guests, and if your not sure on any of the appliances there is a book full of instructions and places to go. There is nothing that has not been thought of here, and the whole property has such a cosy vibe. TV has freesat so no issues with the signal and a very good wifi system to connect everything too. You have plenty of space outside the back for seating and eating, and supplies for the fire place in the hut. Whether you choose to view the area everyday or just put your feet up and relax this offers everything you need. You will want to come back time and time again!!!

We love it here - Laura is a great host, nothing is too much trouble, and the cottage is cosy and well equipped. It was warm and snug during Storm Darragh and very convenient for everywhere we wanted to go. I am sure we will be back to this beautiful part of the country.

West Lodge has everything you need whilst on holiday , including thoughtful things like a hose for washing down dogs , bikes or boots. Footpaths are close by for quick dog walking , previous reviews have mentioned difficulty in walking on road to access these, but I didnât find this an issue as all drivers slowed down and moved to the other side of the road when they met us, it is a 30 mph zone and I would say 99% of drivers were compliant. Lodge is warm, I did light the fire the first night but didnât need it after that, if I had ample supplies of wood are available for you to use. The couch is very comfortable as is the huge bed. All in all I would totally recommend West Lodge to anyone.
