Elm Cottage is located in an area known as the Undercliff, a unique location between the cliff and the sea which provides a micro-climate, an ideal haven for a variety of flora and fauna, many species of which are only found in Mediterranean countries. This semi-detached holiday home comfortably accommodates up to 6 guests and is pet friendly too. It can also be potentially booked alongside the owners other property when available, Beech Cottage ref W43496, which is the adjoining property next door and is able to accommodate up to 4 guests.
The spectacular surrounding coastline gives access to beaches and coves such as Woody Bay and Steephill. The nearest town is Ventnor and still retains its original Victorian seaside charm and makes a great day out for all the family. Just under two miles away from the property you will find a number of lovely seaside tea shops, pubs and restaurants dotted along the esplanade, including the well-known Spyglass Inn. There are also some quirky and bespoke shops, park and a children’s paddling pool. Sea and cliff walks can be found along the coastal paths in both directions from the property, and outdoor pursuits on the island are well catered for and include horse riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, water sports and golf. There are numerous attractions to discover for all ages, including The Needles with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Alternatively visit Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens, Blackgang Chine, the oldest themed attraction in the UK, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle or the sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes, as well as the popular resorts of Shanklin and Sandown. Lovely cottage in a quiet location. Very spacious inside the cottage, warm and clean. They also allowed us to check in a little early as the weather was horrendous, which was appreciated! There were some things that could do with attention, no welcome pack on arrival, as far as we could see; the blinds and window coverings need attention, just restringing the blinds and a few more hooks on the curtains would solve the issues; parking, we had one car and this filled the courtyard, if we'd wanted to use the outside space or a second vehicle, then we'd have had to park further up the road, on the side of the road, whilst it was a quiet area, we were surprised at the level of traffic during the day, mainly vans and cars. Overall a lovely cottage, a beautiful view out to sea whilst washing up! Just just needs a little TLC, and a measuring jug in the kitchen!
