Fresh for the Summer Season of 2021 The Grain Store (UK34014) and The Hayloft (UK34015) are two new properties available at Cooks Castle Farm, an equestrian centre and stables, so there are plenty of lovely horses to see during your holiday. These Grade II listed buildings now offer two bedroom properties side by side, able to comfortably accommodate up to four guests each. They are situated on the outskirts of the quiet village of Wroxall approximately 3 miles north of the seaside town of Ventnor. The area is a firm favourite with cyclists, walkers and ramblers due to its close proximity to the southern tip of the island, an Area of Natural Beauty, with an ever-changing coastal landscape boasting breathtaking panoramic views and a wealth of wildlife. Accessed via a rough track, the location offers easy access to many miles of foot and bridle paths over the lovely countryside that surrounds the village.
On the ground floor you’ll find an open plan living room dining and kitchen space where you can cook up those home-cooked recipes and then gather the family for an evening in front of the Smart TV or exit out of the French doors into the enclosed rear garden which stretches across the back of the property. The master bedroom has a king size bed and floor to ceiling window taking full advantage of the rural view to the front aspect, the second bedroom is a twin room with two single 3ft beds.
The island has become a real hot spot for cycling enthusiasts with a choice of challenging off-road bridleways, peaceful byways and level purpose-made tracks running along its former railway lines. You can cycle to the famous Needles landmark or take on the full round the island route, which is 66 miles long and is used for the annual Isle of Wight Randonnee held over the May bank holiday. You can also travel along the route at a more leisurely pace and along the way you will find numerous restaurants, pubs and cafés amongst the quaint villages and towns serving tasty local produce.
The popular seaside resort of Ventnor is just a short drive away offering a number of lovely seaside tea shops, pubs and restaurants dotted along the Esplanade. There are also some quirky and bespoke shops, a park and a children’s paddling pool. The town, which for the most part is built on the steep hill leading to the beach, retains its original seaside charm and makes a great day out for all the family. Just down the road from the properties is the popular Isle of Wight donkey sanctuary, which is open all year round, weather permitting. Further afield, local points of interest include St Catherine’s Lighthouse, where you can explore the area where Marconi made some of his early experiments in radio, St Catherines Oratory, a medieval lighthouse on top of St Catherine’s Down, and Castle Cove (also known as Castlehaven or Reeth Bay), where there is a little open-air beach café (seasonal opening).
Outdoor pursuits on the island are well catered for and include horse riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, water sports and golf. There are numerous attractions to discover for all ages. Pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and Gardens, Blackgang Chine, the oldest themed attraction in the UK, the famous Needles, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle or the sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes. There is plenty to discover and keep you entertained.

Lovely old barn conversion in a very quiet spot with very good walks on the doorstep. You can walk to Ventnor via the disused railway line adjacent to the farm in about 75 minutes (with slow dogs!)Only 10-15 mins drive to Ventnor and Shanklin and a short bus ride every 30 mins if preferred to the aforementioned towns or pretty Godshill that has a great Thai restaurant. We enjoyed trips to Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle. Pretty much everything seems to be within half an hour or so drive. The Hayloft was fairly small but comfortable and clean with everything we needed, and the EV charging was handy. Would stay there again.

We have recently returned from our first holiday to the beautiful Isle of Wight. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Hayloft🏡Once we'd booked our holiday back in March, we were enquiring about the ferry crossings etc & the host was very helpful in giving us some great advice. She kindly offered to book the ferry(to/from) for us & in doing so, saved us alot of money with her discount.On arrival, we had a very warm & friendly welcome. There was milk in the fridge & coffee/tea etc to enjoy from the welcome basket....just what we needed after a long journey from our home.The Hayloft was clean, tidy & the location was perfect for our family.We enjoyed lots of lovely dog walks🐾from the cottage, especially with the Red Squirrel trail on our doorstep🌿🌳The Hayloft ticked all of the boxes for our family of four & we would love to visit again in the future.Can highly recommend🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Charming, Peaceful Stay in WroxallWe had a fantastic stay at this lovely cottage in Wroxall! The property was wonderfully spacious and incredibly comfortable throughout, giving us plenty of room to stretch out and relax. The beds deserve a special mention—they were brilliant and guaranteed a restful night's sleep every evening.The garden was a massive highlight for us; it offered a great, safe space for our dog to run around and enjoy. Tucked away in such a peaceful location, the cottage served as the perfect quiet retreat on the Isle of Wight while still keeping us well-placed to explore the island. We couldn't have asked for a better getaway and would love to return!
